I'm seeing a shit ton of people advertising accounts to be sold (probably won't sell 90% of them anyway) but they don't say in OP whether or not they are botted.

Niantic will eventually have bot detection and accounts will be banned. For example, this thread: [AUTOBUY]PokemonGO Level25+ Account for 5$! offers a 24 hour warranty on permanent bans. Nobody is gonna be permanently banned in 24 hours, but they will be soft banned as soon as the account is traded unless done properly.

I think these accounts should be labeled by hand or botted for the safety of buyers.

Not sure if this is a pre-existing market rule that people are just not following though

No support, I feel like the people selling their own accounts probably have botted it themselves, but will claim they haven't to attract customers. The person who is buying the account could just ask the seller if it is botted or not.

Support, I heard ingress does bans in big waves so a few weeks down the road all botted accounts sold by somebody could potentially be banned and people should be aware of the risk.

So because scammers will say they haven't botted it in order to get sales (which will likely result in later bans) you are not supporting? Hmm.

Another reason I am not supporting is because as of now, there is no penalty for being botted. If people start to get banned then I would change my no support to a support

It's against the ToS to spoof, cheat, whatever, CEO even says sites like PokeVision are cheating. You really think there won't be any consequence to this?

Ingress players have stated time and time again that there will be ban waves. There are already soft bans in place, it's only a matter of time before people begin to get permed.

I disagree with this. I personally have had 3 accounts disabled on a google account for using SythePoke. I understand that one should stick to using a PTC account, but I wanted to test this out. It took less than 48 hours per account.

I strongly feel that if a PK:GO account is being sold then it must be listed with 2 requirements. A) Is it Google or PTC and B) Has it ever been botted on. Ming you, as far as I am aware there's no way to verify this unless its blatantly obvious the account shouldn't be anywhere near the level it is with the given Pokemon it has.

There's no way to verify but at least sellers can be held accountable if they sell 10+ lvl 25 accounts (anyway how is that even possible to have a large inventory of hand trained accounts?) and people all come and say they got banned for botting or something similar.

Sure, one could say that people could just bot the accounts and then get them banned and report the seller, but if the sample size of bans is extremely high then it was likely the sellers fault.

Don't agree with this. It's too easy to lie and say it's never been botted on. In my honest opinion, the buyer should look at the price/trustworthiness of the seller and determine if he or she trusts the seller or not.

I am sure there has to be a way to distinguish a hand crafted acct vs one thats been botted

Powerbotted accounts vs. hand trained for sure.

However, if someone has it set at 5km/hr walking speed and very specific settings for the config files, then maybe it will look more hand trained.

What do you mean by trust - trust that it's not botted? Wouldn't it be more reassuring if somebody you trust says it's not botted, rather than it being unspecified?

Well I believe it's between the buyer and seller. When I buy an account I ask questions about it. If I were to buy an account from an untrusted person, he or she could easily lie and say it's not botted. It wouldn't make a difference. I don't think a person is required to say if accounts are botted or not because as of now, there's no way to prove if it is or isn't.

Exactly! If its REQUIRED to state whether or not its been botted it adds a level of accountability. I say this because if you buy a lvl 30 and all and you login and use it legitimately then it gets soft/hard banned in 2 days then its OBVIOUS something is up. They arent just banning people for no reason... The only downside to this idea is that yes, the buyer could bot it on purpose and get it banned but that would make no sense whatsoever for a buyer to do that.

As of now there are no permanent bans in Pokemon GO. We have nothing to base claims off of. Also, soft bans are triggered randomly, even if a person isn't botting.

Fair, and we might have to wait a while until we better know how they do bans, because right now speculation is based on ingress. It would just be horrible if somebody gets caught in a ban wave not knowing the account is botted weeks after they spend time & money on the account.

Do you have any sources to cite as far as random softbans? I've never heard of this as of yet.

All I've seen are people complaining about soft bans when they are traveling too fast in a car, or they turn on their app after a plane trip. As of now, there are no permanent bans and only soft bans which are faulty. As @Bogla said, we have to understand these bots first. Many from Ingress have been saying that Niantic doesn't give a shit about cheaters.

This is bogus, I can find 10 places where Ingress players say otherwise for each single reference you have found that says this.

Do you realize how big Pokemon GO is and how many false positives there would be if Niantic fucked up their bot detection? They are a small company of around 20 people. They already have very bad PR from removing the 3 step detection. It would be a PR nightmare if they started banning legitimate players. In my honest opinion, Niantic won't do anything about botting for a while. Some of my buddies got soft banned for being in the car with their app open. Imagine all the false positives. There weren't many Ingress players so the percentage of false positives may have been the same, however, it would have hit a MUCH smaller number of people compared to PoGo.
