Require people to post from a home IP before posting a max main rental thread

Maybe also require people that rent out accounts to have at the first line :
''Make sure you are always recording when renting account, as that is the only proof to getting your gp back/ justice served''

That would make it alot better i think most people dont realize this yet.

 

That's obviously a no-brainer, but that doesn't solve the problem at all. By that logic, people can keep ban evading, coming back to the rental section, and kicking people off the account. They will continue to repeat this process, and a "recording" won't stop the issue because it's bigger than that. By requiring people to post on a home IP prior to posting in the rental section you stop the same people coming over there, therefore taking steps to make it a more secure area.

Then they will receive a TWC as that is what this section is for: Home IP TWCs.

I don't think that many people are going to rent from someone if they won't post under their home IP to remove the TWC.

 

Tbh 100+ donaters should only be renters since they have something to lose if they scam

Ok if you think a guy will donate 100$ everytime he gets banned.. He might even lose money if when he kicks them off the account they dont have 100m on it

 

People usually watch the account or duel it themselves to see the money they have on the account to see how much

 

It's an anti-competitive policy that goes against the fundamental idea of Sythe being a free market. As it requires startup capital in order to enter the market. This approach of requiring $100 donation would disincentive others to enter it as it would require alot of time and investment in order to turn a profit.

 

Thats true I know this wouldn't be bullet proof but this would help a lot

IMO just put the threads there on moderated status like the gold sections @video

Will solve OP's problem and isn't an annoyance for every user to have to post from a home IP.

Staff can check them out before approving them, if they want someone to post from a home IP before approving they can twc them and post in that "home IP's twc" thread in the dispute forum.


Probably the best of both worlds.

The gold sections are moderated because we had issues with spammers and imposters. That hasn't been the case with main rentals. You would have to demonstrate a need for the section to be moderated like a substantial number of scams occurring from new rental threads something like that

 

Having it moderated not prevents the spam websites. "New users" making threads to scam in a week wouldn't be stopped by this

 

I get that I looked at the second page of the max main rentals and there are 4 banned users who were on fresh accounts made just to create max main rental threads in an attempt to scam.

These were a mix between users not posting from a home ip or users getting a new ip from their router.

I would appreciate it if ideas were discussed just to make it better (@Dunworry if you had any suggestions) as newcomers are the most likely to be scammed as they don't know whether to check blacklist and don't understand how trusted users are

But of course we can only do so much to attempt to prevent and they let it happen to themselves..

 

Are the newcomers more likely to scam? Yes. But, as of now Sythe doesn't have a policy that says "you're new and likely to scam so you can't have that thread." At this time it's up to the buyers to be careful who they trade with. I've personally been advocating for years to have premium market where only more trusted people can post. Something like your account must be one year old and have either $200 donor or 200 vouches.

 

This is not the same situation as the gold sections so putting it on moderated status would likely accomplish two things.

• Not solve the problem
• Make the moderators jobs harder

As for making people have an IP check before posting q thread, this is an unessecary complication that would limit the market to users.


Ultimately it comes down to the users who are renting accounts and the fact that they should research who they are renting from before actually making a deal with them.
