I think almost everyone knows how to make graphics. What you mean is, not many people on this site know how to make graphics well.

That's kind of the point - everyone sucks at first. It's inevitable. But at least the people who are there now want learn (whether it's so they can make more money selling their art, or out of their own interest). Give everyone else a reason to join the section, and you'll get a bunch of people who suck at making sigs and who'd don't really care whether they improve, as long as they get quick vouches for doing it.

I can almost assure you that no one will vouch for someone that will do a sloppy job.

I lol'd at that for some time. You don't do too much graphics then?

If I spent hours on something (2d or 3d) and got it scammed off me i would be more pissed off than if i lost something virtual

If this is the case then +1. This also keeps bad gfx makers away from the section since they will not be able to sell something for quick vouches. Because they suck.
On the other hand this also spices up the GFX section since people want to money and get vouches now!

I've already posted on this thread. I'd like to state it again - as everyones been saying; if people in the RuneScape market can do FREE things for vouches, but in the GFX section, we can't?

    As the dictionary says:
    Vouch:
    –verb (used without object)
    1.
to support as being true, certain, reliable, etc. (usually followed by for ): Her record in office vouches for her integrity.
    2.
to attest; guarantee; certify (usually followed by for ): to vouch for someone in a business transaction.

So, basically you're giving a 'vouch' of appreciation for the time and quality spent on the graphics. As people said before, you're taking the one minute to start the bot/macro for someone, that they paid you to do. Basically, they're paying you to purchase maybe 10 minutes of your life? (if you start the bot 10 times) Someone pays to get maybe 70 in a skill, which would take lets say 2 days? They're paying maybe $25, but (if you've checked the prices of people that sell/do GFX they're usually all lower than $20). So basically, you start the bot 3 times, so that's 3 minutes you make $25, but when you're doing GFX you make maybe $10 for 5'ish hours of work, plus you DON'T even get a vouch of their appreciation.

I hope I made that clear.

Because I have spent a fair amount of time in the GFX forum, and even people with bad samples get sig requests, as long as their service is free.

Not to single anyone out, but if an example is necessary:

    1. http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=912873

A user who thought vouches were allowed, and had people indicate whether they'd vouch before making them a font-sig. The work's not 'bad,' so much as it is unimaginative and rushed. All he did was randomly split a font into two different colors (probably 2-3 minute sigs) for which he got a reasonable number of requests. He's an example of someone who was obviously not interested in expanding on his GFX ability, and the type of person the current rule is intended to help keep out.

How do I know that requests = vouches? Because most users treat vouches as a thank-you. People feel obligated to vouch after trades, and even more obligated to vouch when they receive something for free.

No ones art-work can be bad. Nothing is bad, all it needs is improvement. You shouldn't judge someones graphics because you can make better ones. They're probably still beginners.

Also for vouching, it's a good way to start; though I recommend that in the "format" they shouldn't ASK you to vouch; that should be a general rule. I know they're getting a heads up on if they're getting a vouch but in the link you showed (http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=912873) he keeps repeating "Don't forget to vouch". That's sort of saying it's a 99% thing he wants. Which shouldn't be mandatory.

I do see where you are coming from, all it is fonts.... But that is why he is doing it for free. That is why a lot of people have suggested that in order to vouch for GFX it should have to be paid for. Which i would hope no one would pay for colored fonts which requires a moment of work.

As much as I agree Vouches should be allowed for Paid GFX work, I don't think it's going to happen.

This is something I had to handle tonight out of realisation that vouches were circulating throughout almost every thread in the graphics sales section.

So far I have warned a few of the larger threads and removed some vouches made by customers, but there is no way I can do that to every other existing thread. I remade the sticky that people must have missed beforehand, because vouching is still happening in the graphics forum.

All I can do is discuss it with other mods, which I am currently doing, and warn/infract future vouchers.

If your thread was edited, or had it's vouches edited out, sorry but it had to be done. It shouldn't be acceptable that some people can have vouches displayed for their work, while others can't, obviously putting the others at a disadvantage.

I certainly did not want to implement strict control of this rule, but like I said, it's for the sake of people having equal chance to sell their work.

I definitely agree, there's no reason for not being able to have vouches.

Your paying for a product, and either side could scam, therefor there is a risk, which means a vouch is completely necessary.
