Request a Do Not Trade

My suggestion is super simple people should be able to request the Do Not Trade rank. If they're not in the market and they have no intentions of using it they should be able to request it. That way people are aware this person isn't active in the market so if a hacking or a impostor happens everyone is aware. Super simple. Thoughts?

 

I support this I don't see why not. Normally people just request a self requested ban when they are inactive and not trading. However, I could see this possibly being a better alternative to a self requested ban because it still lets the user post on the forums while keeping users safer from scams because it warns them when certain users are not currently trading.

Edit: After thinking about it a bit more I agree with Sypherz that if this were to be implemented then there should be a separate rank for this that is called Non-Market-User: Do No Trade for users who request this so people are aware that they are not a scammer.

 

Definitely don't support this. DNT has to be a symbol if distrust right now or it won't have full effect.

Personally, I would prefer both:

Scammer, Do Not Trade
Non-Market-User, No Not Trade

@Sythe was you not working on getting a "unpaid-debt": do not trade rank. Or something of that likelihood.

Right now the stigma of DNT has a negative vibe. If you see it you're questioning what they scammed, what they owe, what they did wrong.

But based on @Swaze wanting DNT, because they don't trade in the market. I don't see why it would be unfair for anyone to request a DNT or a different variation of that rank. Although we're forgetting that there are a lot of things that are alongside this. DNT's can't pm. There are a few events where pming is necessary, or needs to be utilized. How are we expected to cross this hurdle?

Have a new rank that allows them to pm? No that counters the effect of wanting DNT for OPs purpose (hacks).
Have the DNT rank, you can't pm anyone.

Swaze - do you participate in the graphics marketplace? would you want to not pm anyone? do you advertise things in your signature for money? do you not want any funranks or miniranks? Do you like having your donor status shown? Currently DNT would stop all of that.

First people need to be aware of exactly what they can't do having DNT. So a different rank, with a different name, and different abilities might be better. Again with the PM thing. How is it expected to work?

 

@Sonia If you're not wanting a DNT then maybe a non market user would be better for those who don't want to participate in the market I think that it would or should be rather a good option for people who really just want to be part of the community and the difference would be non market users could have it removed at any time.

 

I'm not sure you read my post properly. I said it would be good for this option, although there are very big obstacles and doubts that I have.

If you give DNT; you can't pm. People who are apart of the community, but don't trade may want to pm.
If you give DNT; you can't utilize the signature buying/selling market, some people may want to do this still?
If you give DNT; people may want to use dicing still, apart of competitions etc, but they can't trade? Should they then ask for a removal?

Where is the line for a new rank "non-market user".
What are they stopped from doing?
What markets or aspects of the forum are they prevented from participating in?

If you say people may want this non-market rank because if they get hacked etc, then at least people will know they had non-market user. Is this now a way or an excuse out of refunding anyone if their accounts were hacked? I mean what if someone purposely gets non-market user, but scams. "I don't trade in the market, I shouldn't refund, I clearly made it so that I don't trade". If you don't want to be hacked, get 2FA.

How are we making sure there is a line of community participation, but also no access to the market.

It depends on what people who don't participate in the market, do and don't do. I don't really know, however there is a lot of things that would be cut off. I wanted to know what they would like based on that.

 

Yeah I think the most simple solution for something like this would be a new rank along the lines of "Non-Market User" that doesn't really limit the user on the forums, but advertises that they do not buy/sell products, services, etc.

 

As said above by Sythe, it's possible to request a DNT rank.
