[REQ] .::Make Your Own Cool Avatar::.

Hey ;) I was requested to make a guide on how to make an avatar in the style of Python and Unb4nn3d's (as I made both of these :O). It's actually really, really simple and very customizable, and I personally think the end result looks really cool.

I know this is not going to be a very detailed or colorful guide or whatever; I'm writing it because somebody asked me to and I thought it'd be a nice share.

EDIT: Okay, time to add colors and pictures...I guess people seemed to skip the part where it was BY REQUEST.

    [Pre-requisites]
    1) Internet Browser [Chrome, Opera, IE, Firefox]
    2) Photo editing software [Photoshop helps, Paint.NET is nice (and free), and MS Paint is a nice last resort]
    3) Some creativity?

    ---------------------------
Step 1) Go to www.faceyourmanga.it. If it prompts you to download the newest version of Flash, just do it. Your screen should look like this:

Hit create, then select the gender. Duh?

Step 2) You can customize a bajillion different features about your Mangatar - the hair, the color, accessories, etc. Just play around with it until you feel like you're done. An important step is to change the background to a SOLID color that contrasts nicely with your Mangatar's outline. I like to use either red or green, depending on the hair color and stuff. Just something contrasting.

This is a very, very quick video I put together showing a nice and simple Mangatar. I didn't even change the colors of anything; you can literally create thousands and thousands of combinations. This is just an example. Notice how I made the background yellow, because it contrasts nicely to the hair color (black) and the outline (black).

Step 3) Once you see on your screen the Mangatar you like, just hit the Print-Screen key, paste it into the photo-editting software you are using, and crop out the rest of the junk. [NOTE: DO NOT CLICK FINISH AND ENTER THE CORRECT E-MAIL. THEY WILL SEND YOU SPAM -- IT SAYS SO IN THEIR PRIVACY POLICY]. Don't forget to resize the image to 80x80 at some point, so it fits into Sythe's avatar.

Step 4) Now, to make the avatar look kind of neat, like it does in Python's/UnB4nn3d's/Sythe's, you need to do this step.

In Photoshop and I believe Paint.NET, if you made the background contrast nicely, you can zoom in a bit and just use the "Magnetic Lasso" tool [or, if you're lazy and are willing to sacrifice a bit of quality for less effort/time, the magic eraser tool]. Select the actual outline of the Mangatar, and copy and paste it into a new PSD. Then, you can either make it transparent or, more easily, fill in the transparent background layer with the color of Sythe's avatar-background space. To do this, either take a print-screen on Sythe's avatar space, or use these values in the color-picker tool [see screenshot]:

If you are using MS Paint, this is quite a tedious process. You should probably just zoom in really closely, and use your pixel-art skills to DARKEN the outline with BLACK pencil. Parts where the outline is not black, but a different color, darken the dominant color (eye-dropper). Then, you can use the paint tool to fill in the rest of the space outside the Mangatar [the background] with the color characteristics that were just mentioned (go to Color -> Edit Color -> Enter the values for Hue/Sat/Lum/R/G/B -> Add to Custom Colors). The background in Paint should be these colors: [Hue = 140, Saturation = 91, Luminocity/Brightness = 61, Red= 40, Green = 64, Blue = 89]

I don't think this needs a picture, as it's very self-explanatory. Here is what it will look like when this step is complete:

Step 4.5) If you want to make your avatar look even cooler, try to find a good place for text (I placed the text in UnB4nn3d's on the cowboy hat, and on Python's, it blends nicely with the shirt) - don't make it too obvious or distracting. Check out how this one turned out in the example; I placed the text in the hair, just for fun.

Step 5) You're done! You can set the image as your avatar xD. Here are some examples that have been used at least once on this site that were inspired by this guide:

I did at first. Lulz. It didn't quite work for him; this guide didn't take long at all, and I know it could have been more concise and stuff, but meh - what's wrong with giving people more detail?

    Nice find.
    I like the guide.
It didn't need much explanation either, so it doesn't mean anything about length and colours. ^^,
    Gotta love the Internet.
