    Plznate - Account Recovery

    Summary:

I bought a runescape classic account from Plznate and it was delivered after payment was received. However sometime later the account was recovered - not to my fault (as I never sold it and I wasn't phished), and after contacting Plznate, he said he was unable to provide help with getting the account back (he says he's doesn't have the creation details, etc and insists he didn't recover it himself). However, as the account seller, he has a job to uphold - and should be able to recover the account. I contacted Roary who advised me to post here after we tried resolving it outside of this section - and so here is all appropriate information.

I'd prefer the 50$ refund, which is the amount he valued the account at, but I did buy multiple items from him - so the money I exchanged with him is for a larger sum.

This is the email after plznatewent MIA and FireZ helped me get the account - [IMG]

EDIT: The account was included as a part of the trade for the payment I sent, I did not consider it outside the trade (which he suggests he made clear. After I sent payment I fortunately received the more valuable goods before Nate decided to go MIA…the email was sent on 8/22 and it was responded to on 9/15, so nothing was explained other than the account information. Nate claims he told me that he couldn't recover the account, etc, but shows no evidence to support that. The proof that it was recovered is that I can no longer log into it...and it has an email associated with it now.

    Plznate - Account Recovery

EDIT: FireZ was the one who handled this, so he can corroborate everything I have said in the following paragraphs

Most info in his thread is correct.
I sold him a bunch of RSC mills a few years ago. As he needed an account to use them on, I threw in a junk account that I never used anymore. That is the account that I have supposedly recovered. As seen here:

His own words describe that the purchase was for a PARTY HAT. That trade was completed, as he states in the email. I, being a nice guy, GAVE HIM A FREE JUNK ACCOUNT to play RSC on, plus a bunch of additional rares and items. It was not ever a part of the deal to begin with!

I was the original owner of the account, which was created around a decade ago. I know no information about the account. I have probably moved 5-6 times since its creation, so there is no way I can recover it. I gave no account creation information to him at the time that I sold him the mills, as he understood that I had none of that information and had no issues with it.

Since I am unable to recover it myself (given that I had no info at the time of sale, nor am I on the same IP of creation), there is no feasible way I could have recovered the account. Nor would I have had any reason to; I have not played RS in a long time, have no intent to, and RSC is dead. Why recover a junk account?

Lastly, I see no reason why I would even be considered to be held liable. The buyer has produced no evidence that it has been recovered, and if he has in fact lost access to it, how is that my responsibility?

For all I know there could be multiple scenarios such as:
-He still has the account and is trying to get paid off for it, knowing that I will not be able to recover it for him.
    -He was phished
-He has resold the account off-site and is now attempting to double dip

If I am to be held responsible for recovering something that was given as a junk freeby, years after the sale, with absolutely zero evidence of a recovery, then I will be calling up on every account I have ever purchased on Sythe, and will explain with just as much evidence as he has (none), that those accounts were recovered as well, and expect the same reimbursement.

tl;dr, this was a junk account, given as a freeby, included in a large GP purchase (I gave him free extra items and the account). He knew I had no info about the account at the time that I gave it to him (for free). I am the original owner, and there is no way I could recover it due to my location and lack of information. As such, he either sold the account or got phished. For the record, the fact that I even have to type out this response is fucking retarded.

This does however bring up a great talking point, seeing as how there does not seem to be an established course of action for dealing with "account recoveries". If sellers are supposed to be held liable, then it sets dangerous precedent for any account sellers. Scammers will be able to build a profitable business model off of buying accounts on Sythe, reselling off-site, then claiming that they were "recovered" and hold the original seller liable. Sounds like a great plan to chase away any account sellers on Sythe. Just saying.

I'll take the ban if thats what it comes to. Staff has seen that I am willing to repay my debts in excess of $4,000. I am not willing to pay a dime for something that I know to be false. I didnt recover it, theres no way me or anyone else could recover it. He either sold it, it was phished, or something similar. Cheers

I suggest contacting Jagex on the forums and asking why the account was locked to get a response.

@FireZ, what evidence is needed to show recovery?
@Roary, the account isn't locked - the password was changed and I can't recover it because it's associated with an email.

Yes, if you enquire about a lock they should shed some light or at least reply to you.

I'm in the process of trying to recover the account. It's unclear what evidence is required to even show account recovery by plznate, so I doubt there is anyway to resolve this dispute on here...
