Remove post count in Suggestions

I don't want to make it harsher, I think it's stupid to infract for "I support" or any variation. Sometimes that's all that needs to be said

I strongly disagree. If I Support is all you have to contribute to an idea then there is absolutely no reason to post that. Most of the time a suggestion, in the end, is not decided by how many people I Support, but what the admins think. If one's opinion is no more nuanced than I Support they deserve an infraction and if their opinion has already been posted then there is no reason to post a vote of support as I have said before, not being a democracy and all.

If what you say is true, and it comes down to what the admins think, and only what they think, why not do away with suggestions and have people with ideas simply PM them to admins?

I never claimed it was solely what the admins think, but in the end it does usually come down to the practicality of the suggestion and the ability to implement or change. You, as a global, cannot say 'I like this suggestion and therefore I am going to implement it!' that is why you post suggestion; you have to defer to one of a higher rank, but you also have a lot more pull than normal member. The suggestion forum allows a fraction of community participation and gives the chance for you or I to propose ideas to the community at large. I could have a private discussion with an admin but it is much easier to post one here and to have it picked through concerning the good and bad elements.

Having the forum littered with 'I support' or other variants is not practical. By having posts limited to only those who have constructive opinions concerning the topic you don't have to wade through a lot of I support crap and you can get down to the brass tacks of the suggestion. It makes it a more efficient and much cleaner process and allows the poster to read through valid thoughts concerning the suggestion at hand, just as you and I are doing now. It would be like trying to have an intelligent discussion in the SF, because you know someone is going to pop in and say something like 'OP is fag' or some variation.

The test, in my opinion, for a post to not be counted as spam is: What does this post bring to further advance discussion? I support or I do not support does not add anything to the discussion, it doesn't advance it, make it better, or help with the decision making process. It would be an impediment to the flow of ideas in the simple fact that every thread is going to be laden with two or three word replies that simply would make it tedious to scroll until you found an intelligent opinion.

tl;dr
I do not support.

When you start looking at removing post count in one section you can find reasons to remove it in other sections and it just has a snowball effect. I think the moderation just needs to be more lenient here.

This. I personally think saying "I support" beats anything that is said in the market forums to be honest. Those forums have literally no discussion value.

I support , because even if there is no post count people are still going to have suggestions and therefore you will still have activity, or there is also the fact that we could just not be infracted for saying I support or I don't support.

In a way I support both sides. I get how people make short and unjustified comments to get their post counts. However, they still contribute to the input of information.

that would be dumb. Spam central for post count basically..

Well if we did it right it might actually work.. Allow users to say they support without getting an infraction, BUT, when you see users doing it all the time without ever saying anything else then you'll know they are just "postfarming"

If mods are capable of keeping up with users that are just spamming the thread for a post count, I'm sure they can handle keeping track as to whether a person genuinely cares about the suggestion, or is just posting another " I support" for an extra post.

Saying 'I Support' even once is stupid and infractable - they are saying nothing but wanting a post count, so they should get infracted for it even the first time.

How about this then, users should post a poll in each suggestion they make, or maybe we can get a whole new script just for picking support/no support (Doubt that since voting is much easier) Inside the poll, users pick either Support, or don't support.

Anybody that doesn't have more to say other than support but wants everyone to know they do, can just use the poll. I think more users would actually use this type of system if there was a unique script or whatever that you can put on your suggestion thread. Users like us will leave are mile high paragraphs about why we support/disapprove of the idea, and users that just don't feel like explaining anything but want to cast a vote can just click a button and be done.

I think thats a much better answer. Then you can support without HAVING to post reasons why etc.

I agree with Jack, although it is annoying when you see posts like 'Support, good idea, like it' etc, if you start removing pc from one section, you can very easily make reasons for most sections.

What would that contribute?
There's absolutely no reason any of the people in charge would consider a suggestion to be better simply because people voted on a poll. In fact, there's no reason for them to change their judgement simply because of posts stating the same.
For reasons similar to Emperor Nero's, I don't support, and think that SFA style moderating would be much more fitting. In many ways the discussions we strive to have in both forums are the same, as the objective in this forum is to debate the viability of a solution to a problem, where in SFA the goal is to debate an answer to a question.

tl;dr get in the same mentality as SFA moderating and everything should be fine, not that the current state is particularly problematic.

Should we take the post count away for RS Pics/Videos and RS Goals/Achievements

It will cause this section to diminish imo :/

Not sure if srs or just newfag...
You can find a reason to get rid of post count in every section.
The idea of even counting posts kind of just vanishes when you take away plenty of opportunities to even acquire them. Either keep it, or remove it for everything. Anything in between is just silly.

No support, sorry mate. It's place to discuss about suggestions and possibly add them on forums, people can post constructive feedbacks here about suggestions, also not that much people write here. I think instead of posting support/no support without any constructive opinions there should be poll added to every suggestion with options 'Support' 'No support' and 'Dont mind'

I honestly don't support this, the section will waste away to nothing if this is implemented, people come here a lot, whether it be to get post count or really give reasons and justify their reasons, either way it's a great place to hang out and get a few post count while at it.

No support as post count, as said before it gives users an incentive to participate and give their opinions on the topic.
Some opinions might be lost if they do not feel like they gain anything out of it.

Denied. Infractions take care of this problem just fine.
