i think an application means that you get wannabe mods, and there's nothing worse than wannabe mods on the internet. NOTHING. it just means people suck a load of dick and actively TRY to get mod over months, or even years. makes me SICK.

instead people should be approached privately and asked if they would like to help moderate the forums, on a WHEN NEEDED BASIS

HELL YOU COULD EVEN PM POTENTIAL MODS TELLING THEM HOW GOOD THEY ARE TO THE COMMUNITY AND THAT THEY COULD BECOME MODERATOR IN THE FUTURE

i just feel that mod hunters in 2017 need to be eradicated by removal of the application process. hell they could still tryhard mod hunt, but atleast they would have to do it in a way to get admin appreciation, and not just suck a load of dick then apply IN A WAY THAT MEANS THE ADMINS have TO CHOOSE BETWEEN A GROUP OF MOD HUNTERS, AND PICK THE BEST WANNABE MOD AROUND AT THAT application period.

I think the old way of choosing staff was better to be honest rather than just writing up a long post that says "hire me!".

Sure it might make things a bit easier for the upper staff if they have to choose from a list given to them, but frankly it builds on experience for them if they must go out and seek potential staff themselves and watch them on the forums

This process is far better than the usual ass kissing that used to occur. I mean look at @Excelont he got mod just by putting excelont for mod in his dig for a year

    I kind of agree, somewhat.

Someone remind me why mod applications came out again?

I guess it helps staff focus on people that want it, put time into writing about themselves, but a lot people I feel just want staff to help them in the market. /: or people just join development teams to further themselves to get staff, so that motive seems not honest. You know funranks make people look trustworthy etc.

I guess if they actively help out and then know how to apply rules to scenarios that's fine by me.

I feel that when staff used to choose themselves they would have to be active in order to find the right candidates which is good cos these upper staff apparently behind them scenes.

    Maybe I'm not too fussed.

I want to comment specifically on the portion pertaining to people joining dev teams to get staff - One thing about that is it also gives staff the opportunity to gauge a persons activity/behavior/conduct in a position of "power" (I use the term power very lightly here, don't get too worked up over it)

I won't deny the fact that people utilize dev teams to get noticed, but it's not entirely a bad thing as you appear to be making it out to be. Correct me if I misconstrued your post.

Man the community bitches & moans about getting applications to staff for years. You guys finally get them and now you're whining about it?

People will always suck dick for staff, it's always been like that. Leave it to staff to judge the people accordingly based off applications and such, it's an idea that has only been around for a year now (if not less) - let it settle for a while. Really there's been very few promotions thus far that are shitty promotions, just leave it be.

Honestly, I think staff is already aware of who would and would not be a competent mod and applications putting their names forth just creates a wider promotion circle. Staff is not limited to promotions based off applications, but competent members who think they would be a good mod apply.

Think the applications are a great way for individuals who may not have been considered to at least get their name out there and widens the pool. So yeah, no support.

Can vouch. Suck a lot of dick and was finally given staff and now the circle of staff continues.

    The above comment is sarcasm

Im going to deny this for a couple reasons.

    • This system is brand new, we have only been through a couple promotion rounds give it time and see what happens
    • The application process is much better than moderators throwing names of people who might not be intrested in a position.
    • This thread has turned into a complete spam fest
    • These type of people have been here before the applications process, so its not only because of moderator applications
