Remake Ranks

Been suggested before - in fact there's a whole thread about this that the graphics designers made new userranks but I guess it didn't get accepted?

voting yes again, lets update the ranks already.

 

Been proposed so many times and denied as many for a reason, just isn't smart or necessary.

 

I disagree. An improvement upon minis is not only need, but obviously wanted by most of the users. I see how it isn't necessary, but why isn't it smart?
I mean just look at my rank, then look at the claws displayed in @Syfiends rank.. it's pretty obvious that most of the ranks or outdated and need to be updated.

I mean just look at the whip.. not only is it basically not even used anymore in rs (since most whips are now tent whips), but it looks like trash (no offense to whoever made it, i'm sure it looked nice, but needs an update)

There used to be an argument to propose about keeping it it's own by not following every other forum out there by losing it's roots and difference - but forums are a dying breed and I no longer give a shit about preserving this one so I am personally unaffected no matter the outcome

 

that's actually not a bad idea at all! I like that one..

I hate to purpose the "ely for $500" or more, because some people like @video have a custom rank which depicts a ely or the divine, so I think it would only be fair that if a rank gets changed, and a user who has a custom rank to match the new ranks, should be able to apply for a new custom rank. I'm sure this only accounts for a few people but still think it would be only fair.

@video how hard is changing the ranks though? I mean so many people offer up minis, including when I made a mini for Spoderman, so wouldn't it be the same thing as adding or updating a mini?

Also, maybe some users be able to keep their current ranks if they want to, or will all the ranks be changed for everyone if this were to happen.

I hate to purpose something everyone wants but is too technically difficult.

oh, and what are the specific size for ranks?

 

It's an easy change, it's just uploading different images like with any rank
32x32 is the icon size for each of the three icons
There are already legacy donor ranks and new donor ranks, no point having old legacy, new legacy and new donor ranks

 

well that's not an honest way to look at a poll.

Most users don't browse suggestion sections
and we will never know the opinion of those who don't vote, so we shouldn't say that just because 50 people decided to vote, and only 10 of them disagree, that it isn't worth a try

I do see what you mean, but that goes against what the community is working on. The community is constantly trying to recruit new members and I think updating is just a part of progress.. even if we are at the end of that progress.

Also, with the RSPS, I think a lot of users will start to like their ranks, and would like to one day see a rank added that links to your sythe RSPS account which displays the rank you purchased with sythe gold.

There's just a lot of small changes that would give the technical team something to do, and who knows, maybe we can have a competition with it

Good luck trying to come to a consensus on anything. Not only has this been talked about on many occasions, it has failed, and or been ignored/halted. The people who have the ability to see to this or get it done have given up or lost interest in doing so. The majority of the site is afraid of change, so you'll most likely get 50/50 positions on mostly every idea that's thought of in regards to this.

I like the current ones and a change isn't necessary but if a lot of people want it then why not, I'd like to see a draft of the new designs and vote between the new designs.

 

Well the consensus is about 80% since the poll opened.

It's the communities job to hold the elder members accountable for making changes or implementing suggestions the bulk of sythe wishes to see.

Like @Bitcoin God said, no one wants to spend $200 for an egg mini. I mean sure, you get the perks, but truthfully they could use an upgrade.

I mean at least upgrade the claws. They look terrible compared to the minirank claws, which I don't really understand.
