What would change your mind?

 

Nothing would. I have strick mind on my religion. I just believe in myself and well yeah.

 

What if there was evidence in favour of a truth other than your beliefs?

Edit: This is only a hypothetical question. I'm interested in seeing whether or not you're actually intending to discuss your beliefs, or if you will no matter what dismiss everything else. This is a situation much like when Galileo was prosecuted by zealots without reason for suggesting the earth was round, as they would not change their beliefs in favour of evidence.

 

Ah, for me, no way is that even conceivable believing in God. I'm the atheist.

 

This kind of arrogance is what causes wars and holds back societies. It's a shame you would hold on to such a belief system.

 

This is why im hebrew. The original hebrew bible is lost in a lost world that is soon to come. Thats why adam and eve are non existent. We are in a parallel dimension atm.

Back to my original question, then, how can you claim to know this with absolute certainty? I'm quite justified in thinking you're deluded until you provide an explanation that has quantitative evidence supporting it rather than a qualitative opinion based on a constructed perception.

 

Better to believe and have somewhere to go then not believe at all. lol

That refers to people who spend their life trying to obtain wealth and who make it a big part of the lifestyle.

But I'm not religious. I also agree that religion was invented by man for power and control.

Ever seen Sherlock Holmes (The Movie). Pretty basic summary of what religion is in my eyes.

 

And if you're wrong? Given no objective reason for believing any one religion is more believable than another, mathematically you've got almost zero chance as there are any number of possible beliefs, each with their own version of "the truth".

Care to provide some sources? I'm not just going to take your word on pseudoscientific claims (and I doubt you're a trained theoretical physicist, so excuse me if I can't really concede you know what you're talking about).

While your input is appreciated, if at all you believe in any sort of theistic deity, then you are not an atheist.

 

Well atheist by my point of view is someone who don't believe in god, and while I don't believe in god I feel like I am 50% atheist and 50% a believer in some strength, not god of course. I don't know how to describe that but I am not a christian as my girlfriend's parents nor my parents are, I don't like some of their stuff like church, praying and so on.

 

You very much sound like a Deist then. Deists are not atheists, but qualitatively speaking I guess you could say they're close compared to other beliefs.

No, kinda not what I feel but it does assimilate a liiiitle bit, in fact that I do not believe in god neither I think he created all of this. I believe that something happened but nobody can answer to that question, those are different things. But thanks Swan for looking up to that, didn't even know this religion existed lol.

 

Well, deism just suggests there was some sort of "creator". I dunno if that means it has to be classified as a God or whatnot, I guess that's subject to definition. It's not really a religion as it has no doctrine, no churches, etc., but if I remember correctly some of the founding fathers of the USA were Deists.

 

I'm not gonna lie, i've just read it from the link you sent me and they say that you believe in God, but you don't think he created all or some sort of similar stuff which I don't agree. But I can say that somehow it does fill my "purpose" but just a little, like a 10% of the religion (if I can call Deism a religion).
