Religion 101

Ok I know I am gonna get mad flamed by people on sythe for saying this but why not live your life believing in God and at the end if there isnt one then so be it. I mean at least pretend it. I mean seriously why not live your life through and if there is no God at the end then boohoo point is you dont have to be atheist
or whatever just believe in Him. You dont have to "get religious" alls you have to do is believe. So just flame away my point is believe what is not believable you wont get punished at the end if you do believe. Unless you have another religion unscientific. =) thx and let the spam and flaming me begin..

 

wow being atheist means that you dont believe, you cant be atheist and believe, then you wouldnt be atheist

 

Not only is that one of the most pathetic arguments for theism, first off because, according to religion, you do have to "get religious" if you want to get into heaven, and get all the benefits of believing in god if there is one.

Now, the second reason why it is a horrid argument, is because I can't will myself to believe in God. Sure, I could go to church, and pretend I believe in God, but deep down inside I would still know that I do not believe in God, and so would an all knowing deity. It's not like I can just flip between being a theist, and a non-theist at the flick of a light switch.

 

I'm saying not to be atheist...I'm not an idiot.

 

That's cheating the system and if there was some sort of god he would know that. If you honestly think like that you're wasting your time. Either KNOW that there is a god or don't bother with it.

 

Well if thats about you then I cant change that christians try to make other people believers also I know its hard to do with people like you unless you are a believer just debating about idk dumstuff

Religieon is just a way to make life less pointless; something to look up to.

Fact is, Life is just a toy for this so called "god", which has never been even remotly proven. Call me atheist or whatever you retards call people who dont belive god, but your just living in your own little fantasy world if you belive in god, not the real world.

This argument has so many things wrong with it. Its called "Pascal's Wager". Heres some reasons that its bullshit:

1. A person cannot make himself/herself believe in anything that they find to be totally irrational. I can't make myself believe in Santa Claus no matter how much I want to, because I know that it is completely unfounded and just plain untrue from the evidence I have.
2. If you were pretending to believe and there was a God, would God not know that you were not true in what you said about you're beliefs? I think that would piss him off even more.
3. You come across the problem of which God to believe in. How do you know which one is real when there are many different options, most of which are mutually exclusive. Even if you could actually bring yourself to believe in one, it could be completely false.

With all these, I find it best just to look at the lack of evidence for a God, and the evidence against one, and come to the logical conclusion that there is no God.
