Whats your opinion of Canada?

Every couple of years I make a post like this. I like to see how my country is seen internationally, and things change every couple of years so the timeline fits. If you're not from Canada, what comes to mind when you think about Canadians and the country itself?

 

I've never really had much knowledge about Canada but I know it looks after it's people within.

I've never really heard many news or press related stories regarding Canada.

 

All I hear about Canada online is free healthcare
Not much in the news about Canada tho, well there probably is but not in headlines.

Many of my friends see Canada as a place full of super nice people, and one friend of mine goes to school there now. He loves it and thinks it's a great place.

Personally, I'd love to go skiing in BC. Though there are many great places with awesome terrain, I think is up there on the list. One thing I recently learned which changed my opinion of everyone in Canada being super nice is that similar to the US, they put Japanese people in camps during WWII, and released them from those camps a whole 8 years after the US did. How true this is, I don't know, but it now seems like a less accepting place to me.

 

It's funny because I actually had a canadian girl come to my school for a day and when she was in class she had to present herself and how canada works, infrastructure etc.

I've only visited America a few times but never actually been to canada.
I've heard from family that went there that canadians are even more fat than americans and that everything is pretty much xxl. My general overview of it is that it's certainly not a poor state, quite modern but very unhealthy.

 

I think of nothingness. It's one of those things you know exists, but it's easily forgettable unless mentioned.

The country seems to be way to safe for my liking. Never heard anything about Canada in the news. Which if safety is your thing then for sure move to Canada

I lived in Canada for over a year. Beautiful country, looks after their citizens and residents quite well. I, being a temporary resident, was able to achieve employment insurance due to the nature of my work, i.e. seasonal.

When I hear Canada, I think Tim Hortons, rocky mountains and maple syzzurp.

 

I always think of it as a great place to live and raise a family... I consider moving there at least once every couple of months.

When I think of Canada, I think of 90% of the population living within 8 miles from the United States border. When I think of Canada, I think cold as shit.

 

You guys love hockey and say sorry way too much.

 

I live there lol, they must have gone to an area with a Walmart close by or something.

This about sums up my thoughts. Every time I meet someone from Canada I basically have the same response: "Is that even a real place?". But don't take it as an insult, it just means that Canada hasn't pissed anyone off in the international community to make it a source of media attention. I mean, seriously, when was the last time Canada was on the news for anything other than elections and that gorgeous weed leaf on their flag :love: I feel like Cambodia gets more attention than Canada.

 

Oh I love listening to people's opinions of my country! It's hilarious because some of the comments I see above are the ones I have about other countries! As for the fat comment, I've only been in America twice but I've seen my fair share of obesity.

I went to Canada when i was 7, went on the CN tower. Canadian people generally seem kinda nice.

 

I hear Canada is a very peaceful country without any trouble to other countries.
