Recent Updates [My Advice/Idea]

Hello.

This is NOT a rant or a way to attack JageX but it is my constructive thought on the new updates, along with maybe future ideas for updates.

First things first. I have played for a good 2 years on this account, I'm not a high level, but I am a very well trained, high-total skiller. I have accomplished 3 99's in my years along with 90 Crafting and 88 Fletching soon to be 99. Now. I have been paying for my right to play on Runescape's membership worlds, enjoying the many benefits that we are supposed to enjoy the most, and for those benefits I am supposed to enjoy them to the fullest extent.
Now as much as you might think "theres no point of you, skillers, you stink" or "you're a low level, what the heck do you know?" Well I know quite a lot. Skilling is a CHALLANGE! It's a challange to max out a character without taking the easy route of slaying for easy money and killing dragons for millions a day. But I work my way, most of the time my life in danger doing certain quests and tasks. I have been playing since 2001. I own an account from 2001.
It is in the list of the first 2000 accounts, that should tell you HOW long I have played. Both this account, and the other, have RSC access, so I know what I talk about.
Recent Updates have damaged the People's freedom of the game, enjoyment of the game itself. I understand the fact that you focus on helping new players and F2P updates. But I believe some updates should be revoked or rethought or talked about.

As a paying Runescape member for a good 9+ years, I have enjoyed my fair share of updates, rares, and activities to distinguish what has made a GOOD impact and a BAD impact. In the next post I will tell you what I think, in the post after, I will explain what should and can be done in the future and maybe now before these updates get too out of hand.

Runescape started out as a game full of open opportunity to expand, get better, EVOLVE, if you will.
And so far, Runescape has evolved from a small game, to a huge MMORPG.

In the beginning I enjoyed walking around and seeing people trade items, if someone needed something, 99% of the time, ANYTHING, could be bought from other players. Sometimes you lose money, other times you make money.
Example:
If I needed a law rune back in the old days, I would walk around and say "Buying Law, 1K" and I would get a trade in the next 5 seconds with someone offering a law.
Now, if I need a law rune, If I walk around yelling "Buying law, 5k" 99% of the time, NO ONE sells them. I even go to the Grand Exchange and offer MAX price (few hndred GP instead of 5K) and STILL can't buy one quickly to finish the quest or whatever.
I also enjoyed standing in Falador and selling/trading rares and new armors along with fancy items everyone wanted. If people got scammed off of their items because they sold for 50% of the actual price, it was their fault for not paying attention or focusing on the fact that you could always go to forums and search for the RIGHT price.
Another fun time was at Varrock, above the bank, before the Grand Exchange. It was always a fun time just to even WALK past it and see people in Gilded, or Barrows. Seeing people sell Full Sara and Full Zammy.

I enjoyed the most when people stood at the General Store in Varrock and looked for items to pop up for them to buy and make a small profit, because face it, in real life, EVERYONE wants to make a profit buying and selling something.

My father is a car dealer, he buys cars for say *10,000, then resells for $15,000.

Same difference with Runescape, even when people got duped.
Runescape GP was coming in and out, now, GP is only coming out, and not enough is coming in. Rares, Armor, Weapons, ITEMS that were once worth 500 gp are skyrocketing to 5k.
If you Think of the old times, you will remember how now, it is not possible.

I consider Jagex the Monarch. No power in the people.
And just as Louis XVI, whenever the peasents begged for, he gave in and gave it to them, but that cause hype and excitement for a few months untill they wrecked havoc on France.

Sorry for the European history, but I would like to say that you cannot control EVERYTHING and expect to benefit the people.

YOU, Jagex, are only out to benefit yourselves.
You are doing this for YOURSELVES!
How do I know? Here’s the low-down.
Removal of Wild cause 1000's+ Players to quit. Trade limit? Another 1000's+

Now you may say, we gained even MORE! So “Shut up Noob!”
FALSE! 60% of the “New” players are either Bots or people’s 2nd and 3rd accounts. Maybe even their 10th. Who knows?
What happened to the all time great "Zezima"? He seemed to disappear off the charts. Is it because he was done? Or fed up with the updates?

No, I believe he left because of the updates, because it was no longer BY the players, only FOR the players.
These updates aren’t BY the player, as in we had no vote in them, or even a description given to us describing them and feedback on whether it will be good or not. It was GIVEN to us, and it only answered the whining of lower-leveled players.

If you want to expand F2P, do so. But do not ring in the P2P players, the people who PAY to play a game they love, that is made for them, and with THEIR requests and feedback, not the F2Pers.

My request and suggestion.
Allow EVERYONE to vote on the update. Anyone with a skill total of 400+ or 800+ should be able to vote, that way people can’t make level 3 bots and vote against the majority.

Let the people who PAY, have a SAY. Let us tell you if we like it or not, let US, the PLAYERS, who play the game YOU MAKE, decide what is right and what is wrong (Update wise.)
Because believe me, you may think you are stopping everything, RWTing, Botting, but you are making them smarter and the situations worse.

Gold selling sites now FARM, do Quests, sell items etc… Bots are not 90% harder to trace with their new writers who have advanced through the obstacles you have left them, and ask yourself, what have you REALLY stopped?

What have you TRULY accomplished with all of the updates?

Lets take a look at the TOP of the food chain...

Trade Limit - Ok. I don't care about it. I make my money skilling. Others throw a fit. BUT, without this people BROUGHT GP INTO the game by scamming items for less or buying it for 500% over the price on purpose, it STABALIZED the economy

Removal of Wild - MANY people Pk'ed. It was a time of fun and provided easy cash, fun cash to be made, once again, it BROUGHT in MORE money

Grand Exchange - Sure you made purchasing things 100x's easier, but you have now ruined the cash flow. More cash is needed, not enough is coming in. Items are being thrown out, items people bought for 5K are not even cared about anymore. ITems you want, are now barely sold 90% of the time unless you pay ALL of it.

Botting - Who did you stop? Botters? This one makes me laught the most. Sure, you stopped them all right, for a good year, after that they have redone it all. Back then they were 75% detectable, now it's a good 10% if not less.
You made the writers SMARTER, therefor, there are now 10x MORE botters on Runescape.

Gold Selling - Yes. Illegal I know, but once again -> More Cash = Better Economy -> More people selling and buying.

Runescape is based in the Medieval era. It is becoming TOO modern.

I mean hear me out;
ALL skills = Medieval times.
Ex.
Smithing - Blacksmith
Wizards - Magic
Archers - Range
Knights - The ARMOR (Adamantite, Rune etc...) is made to look like a KNIGHTS armor - Attack, Strength, Defence
Fishing/Cooking - Food of Course
Hunting (Good Skill Update) - You hunt animals, food, clothing
Farming (Not Bad)/Herblore - Make postions, mix herbs
Crafting - Making Gems, Armors, Sheep Skin wool
Construction (Ehh.... Addition) - Too "modernized" but CAN make it work
Slayer - Slay dragons

You get my point. Everything is from Medieval based.

Grand Exchange - Sort of like a Stock Market but for items...
Wild - People got killed, it's their fault
Theivery - Good skill aswell. People stole from others, especially from peasents
Trading - People traded things for valuable, many got ripped off, others got great deals

As you can see, the game of Runescape is supposed to provide you with Freedom. Freedom to do what you need to in order to succeed and do well, it is NOT out problems if people say it's hard, raise your skills. Or if people get scammed, do your research on items and/or pay MORE attention. Thats why the DOUBLE trade "accept" option was added RIGHT???? So people can DOUBLE check the items they're getting and the cost of it.

Please take that into consideration.

I read the whole thing, and it is the best written argument of this kind for sure.
When I played the "old RS" I was only around 10, so I couldn't really appreciate how awesome it was.
I really wish they would just give open trade another chance and see how it affects the game all this time later.

90% of it is true. Some things I'm stretching a little, but they work and just make it an even better arguement.
Otherwise, 90% is true

 

Those were the good old days. No one is standing in the banks anymore selling their armors, they're all at the g.e throwing the armor in for minimum, with all the noobs spamming their merching clans. And you're right about the law runes. People are greedy now, and won't even sell you one even though they're making a 4.7k profit. But oh well, these parts of the game are gone forever.

 

Yes that may be.
But laws can be reversed and reworked to make it all better. Not necessarily REMOVE it again, but make it more leniant. I have faith that it would work again if Jagex just listens to the right players and not the loudest whiners.

And those weren't just the good old days, those WERE the days. Those days were almost perfect, now, it's like a dream.

 

What do you mean by laws can be reversed and reworked? And your right about those being "the" days. It seems like Jagex has just been slowly ruining the game ever since.

 

I wish players that were made before 2007 get to enjoy the runescape that they want to enjoy, Pking, Selling coal at Fally Bank, real merching, what the wep's used to look like (especalliy scimmys .

And espically . NO GRAND EXCHANGE.

Bravo, just bravo. exactly what i think in my head everytime jagex makes a bad update.

I also didnt appreciate when i started at age 9. Ah i remember the summer i was going into 4th grade.

 

Laws as in Rules. Not law runes, lol.

Well not 1000+ Total, that will take you 2 months pretty fast. each skill can take 1 day 1-50.

I wouldn't mind paying $10 to play the old version though :/

You my freind are smart. Thanks for taking the time to right that, it made me feel like Ripping every jagex members head off. The Chances back then were lovely. Now you can get something for 5k and ONLY 5k. I blame the greedy chinese gold farming fuckers too.

 

Dont forget staking at duel arena. Probably my favorite thing ever to do in RS.

TL;DR: Jagex, stop updating the game, and let the game be played like it's supposed to be played.
