Recent events, i.e. DeaconOkay, I've been getting a lot of people inquiring about the recent situation with Deacon, and the fuss that occurred on the forums after he was banned from the IRC server.
To start from the top, I banned Deacon on Aug 6th, because he was getting very annoying, and I had reason to believe he was attempting to have my MSN frozen. Resident then decided that because I hadn't completely removed his access to the server the IRC is hosted on, he'd give himself oper back, and remove the gline set on Deacon.
After that I had been gone for a few days, and when I got home I didn't bother to reset the permanent ban I set on Deacon. Verts glined him as a warning, and removed the gline shortly after. Yesterday, Deacon continued to be an asshole to Verts, and after multiple warnings, Verts glined him again. After this gline Deacon went into the IRC lounge and attacked Verts.
This ordeal has brought up questions, again, about why I gave Verts oper in the first place. I feel the need to repeat myself, and explain that Verts was not given an oper position due to her gender. Verts passed the same test to become loper as Fouisgras took, and was not given an easier test. Verts was put into loper, as a learning position, and is now an oper, as she has learned a lot about the IRC. Verts has an ideal personality for what I was looking for on my staff, and has been a very good friend. Anyone that believes she doesn't deserve oper, probably doesn't know her very well.
