What if the internet was invented, but the government had a lock on certain websites that they would only allow you to be on...

BUT, for a small fee of $200, you could go on one site that you picked to pay for.

What would the site be?

I dont know lol $200 is kind of a lot of money, depends on which websites are available, e.g search engines, if something probably runescape , sounds sad.. but oh well

I would just pay enough to browse freely. It's like phone plans, texts are like 30 cents each, which can add up, or you can get unlimited for like 30-40 dollars. So probably $1,000-$5,000 a month should get my browsing freedom.

 

Who the hell would honestly pay that much for browing? Even if you can afford it, it's simply idiotic.

 

$200 really isn't a small fee for the viewing/usage of one website.

 

That's the point, this topic is a example of our bad economy, what if this was the government's last resort to make money.

The government doesn't operate the internet or have control over what's posted, they only have the right to enforce laws such as copyright infringement, pornography for those under 18, downloading songs illegally, etc. The internet wouldn't be harmed entirely that horridly by the poor economy- which is actually on the up rise.

But if they would regulate the internet, I would pick facebook most likely.

 

If the president wanted to regulate what we could use on the internet, he could.

But this thread wasn't made to be politically correct, it is just a "What if" thread.

 

I wouldn't pay 200$ for that, its useless. Getting a hobby is more fun like football, walking ect.
If I had to I would choose CNN so I could see news in everyday life.
