I'm really into computers, and just recently built my third one. I paid a hefty coin for this bad boy and would like to see what you guys think!

8/10 only because you cheaped out on the SSD. The 512GB Evo is only like $200 lol. Also, Win7? Bit of a waste. Not to mention an external disc drive would be better an internal.

Who cares about the SSD? It's great and all, but I put windows 7 on it and that's all that really matters. I still have a lot of room for other stuff too. Also, what OS would you prefer? 8 is crap and 10 is crap (I also built this in March, so 10 wasn't even out yet)

You're building this machine for gaming yeah? You ever played a game off an SSD? It's a million times better than off a standard HDD. With 512GB you can add games and other applications that can benefit from high storage speeds and you'll never go back. The difference in cost is negligible especially when you dropped so much on the two video cards. The decision was silly imo.

I suppose your argument for the OS is fair, but if you think you're going to be using 7 for the life of that machine guess again (unless you're only keeping it for 2 years). Essentially all support for 7 won't last forever. Microsoft is focused entirely on 10, and it's not even bad once you get around the spying bullshit (which is being introduced in 7 and 8 via updates anyway, so you're shit out of luck in that regard).

So you're saying that you'd drop one of the video cards and upgrade the SSD?

And I plan on keeping 7 until 10 is better. I have a second PC which I upgraded to 10 and it's fucked up so many times, along with several people I know. I'd rather not risk anything so I just wanted to wait a bit until I upgraded the OS

Great choice for cpu, ram and motherboard.. two 970s is a great choice, practical and affordable..

    What benchmarks do you post?

I don't see any closed loops on that cart, so I take it you haven't overclocked yet?

I'm confused on your storage though.. Should of gone with the minimum of 256 on your primary ssd, then a black label on the hdd

I hadn't suggested replacing the video card - I was communicating that at the price point that you've set for making this machine, an extra ~$100 (accounting for the cost of the original SSD) would have been marginal, if not negligible.
