Rares price in dollar hasn't changed

Anyone noticed how even though rares go up, the price of them in dollars has not.

I bought a Santa hat for 15-20m in like 2007, back when mills were $4/1m
Today they're 150m, but GP is only .4/1m

15*4 = $60
150*.4 = $60

This works with every other rare.

So are rares actually getting rarer? Or are they just directly related to the gold market outside of runescape.

 

I noticed this quiet a while ago too, infact I remember selling a santa hat in 05 or 06 for $105US so depending on the time line santas have actually dropped.

Not sure about the other rares, never sold phats.

It is interesting to see that the actuall REAL value of rares doesn't really ever go up ( ͠° ͟ʖ ͡°)

Its probably worth noting I sold it on e-bay where people usually paid more.

 

You can only view rares as GP really. All they are is a certain value of gp and therefore in the long term the price of gp will and has steadily dropped due to farmers and recently gambling etc. also consider how many people had and sold rares like 5 years ago in comparison to the current market.

In short term rares do go up in monetary value when their price rises in game.

 

It depends how you look at it really, i personally think back in 06 there wasnt a real set value of gp, the market wasnt big enough, and RWT wasnt anywhere near as common as it is these days.

I remember once back in 06 i sold my friend 4m for £40, thats like $64. lol!

But as for the true value of rares, i do see where you're coming from, the price may have raised over the years, but they've hit their peak so to speak, i dont think we will get to the day where all rares are max-cash in ge.

For as for the price of GP, quite evidently as we've seen, it appears to carry on getting lower and lower, whilst the price of rares barely gos up to balance this out, with an overall result of the true value of rares decreasing, not increasing.

 

Unlimited Money, Limited Rares. unless jagex secretly puts some in the GE on a moderator account to flood the economy.

 

It makes me feel stupid because a few times I've actually bought rares in hope that they increase in value... That wont ever happen so to speak

 

I heard that since jmods can spawn items they can't use the GE or trade anyone.


OP, this is some conspiracy type stuff man haha. But really, a rare is just a slightly unstable way of holding GP.

 

I guess they are getting cheaper when you consider inflation!
I also noticed this when i tried to merch santas using $, buying the GP and then santas. I then sold was going to sell the santas at christmas for more GP and hence more $, but turns out the GP price had fallen and I was pretty much break even, and out of pocket for the effort!

 

Rares = GP. Why would people buy a rare for $200 more than they could buy it using GP. It doesn't make sense, hence the correlation. GP prices affect rare prices.
