Rares Drop Event!

What makes you think there is going to be an event lol? We voted no for everything.

 

There's no way any of the votes would reach 75% with more then 6 or 7 different votes to choose from. Jagex will just go with the most voted method, meaning they will be dropping them just like they did in 2001. Give it another month and I'm sure will make some kind of a "rare introduction event" and drop rares randomly around the big cities.

I wouldn't say anytime now, jagex won't rush into this as it could cause drama within the community. I personally think they will reopen a poll with the ones that gained most support to verify what the players actually want. However, I don't agree on the phats being randomly dropped - this is going to make select players "insta-billionaires" which will cause the majority of players whom didn't receive a rare to be quite pissed off leadin to a lot of players "anti-jagex"

 

back in rsc everyone had a fair shot at getting them, also prices on the rares wont be in the billions right off the bat it took til 2001-2002 for phats to even reach 3-10m in price[ red being 3 and the cheapest and blue being about 10 and the most expensive. and these were most saught after of all the rares the others took even longer just to break the millions barrier

No, people will try to sell for shit loads but then people will hoard them and there will be wayyyyyy more of them in game than there are now and then they will be worth 1-2m max.

 

I'm sure Jagex has thought about all of this and will try to come up with a decent solution.

 

I don't think they drop rares until late summer.

I still believe they need to sell the 'rares' in shops for 20-50m for a weekend then discontinue them, not drop them.

 

There are players on OSRS with over 300M in cash, not including other assets. How would it be fair to other players?

There is no best way to do it - all players are extremely conscious about rares and eager to collect them. Regardless of the route they take, there will be a drawback to it.

 

We all started back at Zero on March 1st, then were given 2 months to accumulate as much GP as we could. Everyone was given a 'fair' chance.

Not everyone can be given a 'rare' then they aren't rares. Only the ones with $$ can acquire such things. Plus this is a way to take some of the already farmed GP out of the game; buy an item directly from a shop.

 

I can go onto an assortment of gold websites and buy enough gold to purchase several rares, if they were ever released into a shop... I've been playing OSRS for exactly 7 days as of today, how is that fair to players who spent all their money on leveling their skills for the past two months?

Also; How is that fair for users who are joining recently, who have yet to acquire such cash amounts?


Simply, it's not.

 

It's fair because you were given the same chance as everyone else was March 1st. Everyone was reset to the same level, and there was no gp in the game. It was up to the players to farm the gold. Everyone was given the same opportunity.

If Jagex just drops the rares then everyone is going to get a rare and they won't be rare. The item will be worthless, a prime example is fish masks in EoC there was too much supply and very little demand.

Where as, if you were to sell them in a shop the people who have spent time and money farming gold will be the only ones to get a rare. OR like you said you have the option of going onto an assortment of gold websites and buy enough gold to purchase rares. The price of the rares have to be high enough so that only few players can afford them. That is what will make them rare, when only a few players have the item.

 

You mean when only gold farmers have them?

This route would only show support from Jagex towards gold farmers, since they make much more than any legit players would make. With the exception with the few who no life the game and have high slayer.

 

I personally think that there should be some randomized way to have them put into the game, but makes sure they go to users that will appreciate them and not just sell out to the rich gold farmers as soon as they're released.

 

This will never happen unless a user decides to do it. lol
