Rare name release?

This pretty much means good bye name sniping bots. But of course there'll be people who'll buy mass amounts of bonds for temp memberships and change their names manually.

 

I'm pretty excited for this update, although these names should only be for those who have been members before, as in spent money, not a bond.

 

well, spending 1 bond, aka 6.4m eoc for a name that could be sold between 20-100m+, i don't think name snipers would be bothered to spend 6m

 

Can see Jagex monitoring the names that are free'd up to ensure fair distribution

 

As part of my business I continually monitor 3 letter/character combinations and can confirm that they've been being released in waves at a rate higher than the usual norm since the article was posted on the website. The first obvious wave was around 1pm* GMT on the 8th.

It's fair to assume that not only 3 letter names are the ones being released, they're just the only ones I've seen. If there's a name you want, the time to start watching it has passed

 

They said end of July to start of August

 

They mention releasing millions of names from late July until end of August. If it's for members only, chances are most of us will have a chance to get the names we always wanted

 

Yeah, I saw that. There was definitely a small blip on the 8th though, maybe they ran a small batch to confirm there were no major issues? It makes sense that they would test small groups beforehand so they don't end up dropping names that shouldn't be dropped

 

Everyone is going to be sniping names now, glad Jagex is freeing some names up though.

 

Tbh I think a lot of snipers are gonna hope to get good names and this is just gonna get the name buying market a big flurry for the days in which this happens, but if I get a name i will be extremely happy.

 

I wish I could get a really good name out of this, but I am pretty sure the name snipers will get all of them first lmao .

 

For some reason I think Jagex will somehow restrict people from hoarding during the update. I don't think they'd blindly release so many names knowing how badly they gun for RWT'ers.

Yeah thats what I thought, when names can be sold for like upto 500m, why would a name sniper care about spending 3-4 bonds on getting bots to snipe the names, that is the only thing jagex doesn't understand. I like the idea of the acc should be like 3 weeks or 1 month old tho

Is there any way to tell if a player (name) is inactive?

 

Theyve been working on the nitty gritty over the past two weeks about this type of stuff. I've been losing handfulls of names every few days. Seems like theyre working on different detection methods because ive been paying attention to the patterns.

 

I hope so, because it would be pretty bad if this just opened up thousands of potential names to name snipers as a few people would get a bunch of names which they sell, and the rest of the people would get nothing.

I hate to rain on your parade, but i'm actually glad they are haha.

There's one particular name i'm looking for, well two... one's sort of a "backup" in case the first is taken T_T.... yet I have an odd feeling that it was/will either A) White listed (even though it's not famous or anything) B) Won't even be released in any of the batches or C) Going to be taken by another person... even though i'm literally going to wait till the very first second to get the damn name hahaa.
