Rare Breakdown!

Basically, im tired of actually playing, and wanting to get into getting and upgrading rares. But honestly, i have NO idea where to start.

Some key questions:

1. How do you get your FIRST rare to start with? ( Ie: People wanting something like disk + cash for divine, but how do you get the disk to begin with, other than sniping ).

2. How does upgrading/downgrading rares work, to what i can grasp, its your rare(s) + cash/junk for his more valuable rare?

3. How in the hell are people accumulating 500m junk. What do they consider junk? I couldn't imagine 500m in broodo shields, and poisoned ranged weapons, are they considering things like easters, and disks junk?

4. Whats a good thing to start with, i mean to get going, a lot of people seem to be wanting disk for upgrades on their party hats. So I'm guessing try to get a disk right off the bat, how would i do that?

5. Small "rares" like fury kits, dragon kits, do people just snipe those? I see people wanting about 6 for a purple partyhat.

Basically, i have an account wealth of about 350m. Id like to start the whole rare game, now where do i put my foot in the door? Maybe there's a guide out there? Thanks!

 

1. Sniping or trading a large quantity of rising stuff for lower rares.

2. It really depends on the medium found between both the buyer and the seller. Pretend some guy just invested in worthless items which rose 200% or so and he has a Green Partyhat. He can downgrade his Green + that now junk for a Yellow Partyhat.

3. Merch investments or being stuck with junk from the Rares they bought.

4. Refer to the first answer.

5. Mostly. Also note which site you are on.

Edit: Before seriously getting into the "rare game", I'd advise getting more gp.

 

1. Buy a disk+junk for cash. Or snipe. Or buy for IRL $
2. A yellow partyhat is worth more than a purple one, so an upgrade would look like purple partyhat+cash=yellow partyhat+junk
3. Large quantities of junk like that come from merches. Look at the g.e. page on runescape.com and check out the items that are falling hardest/rising hardest. These items are either being merched, or have been merched and are now junk
4. You'll have to ask someone who's paying more attention to the rare market these days, I haven't held a rare for months
5. Maybe. Dragon kits, sure, fury kits, less likely. Purple partyhat is not worth 6 fury kits, so whoever's asking that is likely a mercher themselves
