(Random)Anyone know of LUA?

Sup guys, just wanna know do any of you know LUA? Its a great language and so unappreciated.

If you do know LUA, do you know how to write in it and/or what have you seen it used for?

Kinda random, but Garry's Mod is a game i play, scripted in LUA, and i got bored.

 

I've heard of LUA (mostly good things) but never used it myself. For me it just sounded like another of one those dozens of common (useful?) languages I don't have the time or will power to take more than a brief look at.

Never used Gary's mod so I have really no incentive to look into it... Apparently Gary's mod's implementation is different from the real one anyway so there might be a bit of a learning curve if you go from one to the other.

 

Lua is just a pluggable scripting engine. I've messed around with it before, and I'd use it if I had to make anything to do with scripting.

The reason it is unnapreciated is becausae it is a scripting language and nothing more.

 

I know a bit of it for Gmod scripting.... Knowing it if you play Gmod is very useful as you can create any client side shit you want... I know a few people that are amazing with it.

 

You don't "CODE" anything in Lua, it is only to script things.
Which has to be programmed in the first place.

 

World of Warcraft addons are actually made in LUA. I've taken a look at it before, but never really dug deep since Gmod and WoW are the only instanced in which I ever seen it be used.
