I personally Find them incredibly offensive, even when they do not apply to me. However I do not find Homophobic slurs incredibly offensive, even when they do apply to me. Why is this?
I feel that calling someone a N***** is very offensive. Only 40 years ago minorities didn't have as many rights as Caucasians. I feel that bringing up hate words of that era is incredibly callous, and disrespects all the work people like MLK, Malcom X, and others put in, trying to end segregation

In my opinion, it's not what you say. It's how you say it, and to who. I live next to a black guy, and I can call him a nigger and we have a laugh about it. I don't go up to people I don't know and scream it at them though.

    It's situational.

Agreed with Schnell, its about how you say it. I say it the odd time at school and when i do its "nigga" not nigger. Though not that much of a difference in my eyes , they take no offense to it. I could say in a happy tone whatsup nigga and they would respond with nothin just chillin. But if i said sup nigger, i wouldn't last another 30sec :)
