racial slurs

This thread is over the word "nigga (er)", not these "hundreds of thousands of words". Clearly the word nigga is a racial comment and discriminatory. As I said before, if you can't see that, then there is no point for me to argue with you.

We have no intentions on banning all of the words that generally don't mean anything racial or discriminatory. Such as vandal, etc.

If you can use the word in a public school and it is not considered racial and or discriminatory, then I am fine with it.

From my experience, you can't run around saying faggot, cunt, nigga, etc. So don't use the words.. simple as that.

 

It depends how you state the word though. There are a lot of words that mean "nigga". I'm just saying if you ban one word why don't you just ban them all?

 

Nigga (Well not that but the actual word) is not a racial slur unless directed that way. It means a lazy person.

 

Why is that?

I hear these words almost daily, rather it be in school or in public, but I never see any one standing by ready to restrict them from saying it again. So, why should it be done here or anywhere else?

It's simple as this, as my previous post, there are two sides to a story. This particular one, has users who do not accept words of racism and the one's who do/or could care less. Then you have a solution, which should be our 'FOS', but the 'particular' users never consider it because they hold a higher position than other users on this forum; this leading into the conclusion of 'I can do what I want regardless of the situation'.

Why do you all want this word uncensored? What is your gain? The only gain is to hurt others. It doesn't matter if you hear it or if it is said in other places, all that matters is no one wants Sythe to be flooded with this word. The day it gets uncensored, the whole forum will be spammed. Simple as that.

Also, with the Nazi symbols, you are allowed to have them apparently. Sythe gave you an inch, why take a mile?

Freedom of Speech in the United States does not effect an internet forum. People come from all over, people with no rights, and even if it did count, it also says that your freedoms should not infringe upon others' freedoms.

I'm not sure what footing you have left to stand on.

While some students may get away with saying it, if a teacher were to hear it, I'm certain they would punish the student.

There are millions of words in the english dictionary.

The word "******" has been deemded offensive because society has chosen to make it. If society chose to use the word "the" in a offensive way, the word "The" would be banned from the censor as well.

Society has used and chosen to abuse the word "******" and make it against black people.

Your right, there are thousands of words you may find offensive, but it depeneds on how many people argree that the word is offensive. The staff cannot ban a word just because 1 user finds it offensive.

But if you feel that a word is being used wrong, and used not in a professional manner, then contact a administrator.

It's a derogatory term for a black person, you saying that it means a "lazy person" just makes it worse that you've turned that word into a stereotype.

Just because your black irl, doesn't mean you are a exception to use the word. The word is banned, for EVERYONE, honestly, even if you are black you shouldn't be using that word, as it says a lot about you.
