Questions regarding the christmas event.

So I read through a couple things and watched some guides but I still have some questions left:

-If you have all the scarves and hats already, do you still need to do that part of the event?
-Is it possible to only decorate the tree to get your santa outfit?

If anyone could answer these that would be great, cba wasting time if its not required.
