I mean, when they're finished doing their business here, they just simply scam.
Many trusted members, or even mods ended up scamming(plat, plznate), when they could have earned way much more money with legit business. I have no idea how come it's been happening.

That shouldn't be this simple. They are mostly intelligent people, but somehow they fail to realize scamming is not the right solution to make easy money.
The only thing I can think of why they did id, it's either debt or just absolutely got bored with trading and just wanted ez money.

Because you can donate $50, post 300-400 times, get SVU, and a few participation miniranks. Get a thread layout and signature for under $20.

Total investment = less than $100

Then the person can scam $200-400+ especially if they line up a few trades at the same time.

Its hard to say with really trusted people, usually they're hacked or just decide to scam-quit sythe and leave with what they can.

Yeah I could see your point about them being bored. After doing the same thing for years, they probably were just tired of it and went on to do other things, but not before one last hurrrah on here, scamming someone for a fat stack to end their time on Sythe.

SVU, yea... that's pretty useless, I've read the only personal info being verified being mobile number, but it can be fake too. It should be rewised imho. Also, SVU is really misleading

Darkest Dream put it in words perfectly. Many of those people are jobless or broke, so this is one way to get cash. Invest a little, spend some time, and then get a return x2 or x3 of that is heavenly to them. I would partake in such opportunity too, however, it involves cheating someone out.

It's just users with a lack of morals who are usually planning to quit Sythe and not just go inactive. It's fast cash as you leave. As Nick said, most do not end up scamming.

With trusted users, I would guess they're planning on quitting runescape / sythe to move onto others things, and want to make an easy $500-1000 before leaving.

^ Support my suggestion if you think SVU should be renamed :p

OT: It's sad to see, especially when people make friends on here. Why do something that will damage great friendships? It makes to sense. But sadly people who scam are only looking at the short term, and not the long term.

Supported, but renaming isn't enough. It needs rework too. The point would be to prevent users from scamming via giving personal details to victims, but a prolly-fake phone number means nothing.

If you consider the average scammer/ban evaders total effort put into their investment it yields quite a nice return for the minimal amount of effort they have to give.

It's actually really sad, I just assume their psychopaths. Or have similar traits.

The idea of getting money really fast, compared to waiting around building up a business for the long-term benefits is what scamming is all about. Or the thrill of it, people don't care for those who are online, who lose out. Or people are in debt and want an easy shot of money. Thing is with scammers it's mainly a one time deal, but often a lot can be scammed in one instance.

Example, I guess, Kyron. Had a legit business, until apparently scamming, being banned, and then charging back on payments he's made.

Most don't end up scamming though like Nick said. Most go inactive, you just don't see them go inactive often enough to know of it.

You're right, that's why you should always be caotious, but I've been scammed by a guy impersonating Bogdan, he could even make Bogdan PM me so it seemed all legit, only after have I seen he was impersonated when it was too late. He did a pretty well-thought scam, luckily only for 20$. I'm not going to go in details for obvious reasons
