Case-by-case basis. Staff should do it. Our posts with warnings are often removed by staff or they quote us and do like ^^^^^^^^^^ this However there are few mods who are cool with it. Just report user for breaking rule is best you can do. Warning him wont help and wont hurt too. Staff will do it sooner or later anyways
Don't post telling someone they broke a rule and then report the post. Mods get pissed about it. I have talked with several mods in TS/Skype as they handle BOTH of your reports (zuzel111 and Ow 3 Hit) and they get pissed that both of you try to farm post count and report the post. Most of the time the mod will merely PM the user and tell them they are infracting a rule, but if there is no pictures/whatever and you have already posted that, what is the need of reporting it? Do you want everyone has bumps at 7:59 to be infracted? If your post has no relevance to the OP/response on the thread, don't post. You linking people to the forum rules and explaining what has been done wrong should be PM'd or simply reported. Edit: I Will add!
Zuzel is correct in the sense that if someone is missing pictures and you point out which specific pictures they are missing, it's helpful. However, a post where you bump a topic that is 3 months old saying "OP IS banned, requesting closed." Is complete spam and an entirely unnecessary gravedig. Just report the post.
http://www.sythe.org/internet/16513...llars-online-daily-must-see.html#post13139602 Specifically that thread, which I had to delete your post on. It's 2 months old, why are you bumping that requesting a close.
Understood, just trying to clean up Forum a bit. Won't post on said topic anymore and just report it, just did the post so in the future someone knows why it was closed. If that makes sense. Exactly why I continued doing it, nobody told me it was wrong. I've just received 2 infractions(in succession) for doing what I've done with no repercussions(until now) so it was under my impression what I was doing was welcomed. I could have received a PM from the multiple mods who handle my Reports and been told to stop doing it. But no, I was told to stop doing it while receiving 2 infractions. I felt it was wrong, as all I have are good intentions. This was a one-time case, perhaps the post was unwarranted but the topic being there for over 2 months was silly to me when it was no guide. I have a problem with the first thing you said as I don't report people who bump at 7+ hours as nobody is perfect. It's blatant double-bumping which could be considered "farming" posts. But it's almost like a slap on the wrist anyway. Spamming bumps is taken less lightly than someone posting Forum awareness on the same thread. I'm under the impression NONE of them have gotten an infraction for it so to say 7:59 is preposterous.
When I post, I do it on threads which are not older than 24hours and if noone else posted it earlier. If someone stated earlier someone is doing something against rules I just report it as spam and skip to other threads. By doing that people very often upload pictures before mods even get to it so it gives other users chance to upload pics. So for example, if mod gets to that report after 8 hours and user has been online during that time and didnt show any interest in my post / didnt provide picture, basicly ignored it mods rarely give them time to submit it. If some mods are not happy with it they'd PM me instead of talking behind my back
Dont make fun of mods on forums, or dont judge anything they say. If it is really hurtful, maybe throw them a PM or another admin a PM about it.
I agree with Dave. Its case by case since most of the time what is posted is relevant to the topic. The only irritating ones are posts stating that the OP has been banned/requesting a thread to be locked and someone else makes a post regarding this and then reports it. Just use your digression when it comes to posting. If you are genuinely trying to help the OP, feel free to post. But if you are doing it purely for post count, report the post and move on.
