I don't care what people believe, it's there own decision. Yes I do think that religion is stupid, I don't believe in a magical man in the sky that seems to do absolutely nothing for his followers, but what ever...
They used to think that heaven was in the sky; in the clouds, but when science sent a rocket up, that was out of the picture.
I tend to not follow something that doesn't have proof.

People can say God created science, but then what created God? All theories have flaws and we'll probably never find out what the true answer is.

Science can create a formula about pie. Then they will see if that formula is successful or not. If it is eureka if not lets see what went wrong.

Religion has to be correct it's fact and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it's theories

I seriously hope that is sarcasm.
You're saying science could be wrong because they still haven't fully worked out pie?
Look at everything else it has proven, like I said; people have their own opinion, but if you choose to believe in a magical man in the sky so be it.

And let me show you what you sound like:

One of the spoons in my kitchen is God, it created the earth when it magically appeared out of nowhere along with a table, it fell from the table and when it landed it created an explosion, the debris from this explosion is the planets and stars of the universe, the table then disappeared and when it disappeared, people and other forms of life formed where the table was and fell to earth with no recollection of how they got there. Then throughout millions of years we are at the point we are now. To this day everything you see, hear, feel, smell and taste are all down to one of the spoons in my kitchen, which happens to be God. But obviously God can't be detected by an mere mortal device. So please.. Prove one of the spoons in my kitchen isn't God. I'd like you to back up your reason with facts. I want proof, not just your word.

Thing is were not making the claim that the spoon is in fact god. You must provide the evidence if you are providing the claim.

Burden of proof bro

UWotM8?
My question for Theists is who created god. God can't create himself because he doesn't exist before he does it, and if the logic of everything must be created follows then God must have been created by another God.

Assuming we call God's creator God Prime then who created him? God Prime Prime obviously, but this unfortunately is an infinite paradox, and the problem with an infinite paradox is that it can't exist in real life, so it means your calculations are incorrect or your theory is simply incorrect.

The second issue here is that this road block occurs at the very fundamental core of the "theory". A scientific theory with a block like that would be torn apart and discarded (see cold fusion). So why does your theory hold any water?

I don't have to provide anything your the one making the claim. Like another poster has said the burden of proof is in your court.

But the proof of burden is in the court of god to prove god is real, the actual method dictates that you state you do not know until proven otherwise.

That's why I said it..
Maleficent says religion has to be correct, when 99.999% of the stories told are absolutely ridiculous and have never been proven.

I believe in science, the thing that backs up its theories with facts.

Well to start, Christianity is a very widespread and has the most adherents. Around 2.2billion or so people are Christian, according to statistics.
There is many recorded (sadly barely any scientific) data noting the existence of God. I'm not sure about this, but I'm pretty sure that some scientific data did indeed conclude that Jesus did exist (I've got no backings on this on sorry, it's just what I've heard or red.)

Christianity is not the only religion that believes in the Jesus and/or the same God. For example, we have the Katholic people, Muslims, Jewish followers and such. These are all religions that have been around for a while, unlike some stone or wood statues that people carved and decided to call God.

Tl;dr?
1. most followers
2. long history

But overall, I think that faith is the most important reason.
Sadly, you will not understand faith until you have it.
An even sadder fact is that with all scientific reasoning and theories, faith is a lot harder to have because of everything that goes against it.
I hope you know Buddhism was before the bible. LOL

You said they have the most followers. FALSE
You say they have long(er) history. FALSE [If that's not where you were getting at then why say 'long history'

In asia alone there are 4 Billion+ Buddhists, while the Bible was in 55 A.D., and Hinduism/Buddhism was way before 650 B.C.

Stop tricking yourself into believing in this bullshit.

Christianity is the most populous religion. There are around 400 Million Buddhists, as opposed to 2-2.2 billion Christians, 1.57 billion Muslims and 900 million - 1 billion Hindus. I can't see how there could ever be 4 billion asian Buddhists, as asia only contains 4.1 billion people. Are you implying that asia is predominantly Buddhist? Asia is mostly Muslim/Hindu.

Judaism supposedly originates prior to 1400 BCE. The oldest proof of it is dated around 1200 BCE. Christianity is an extension of judaism. Buddhism begins somewhere in the 6th century BCE. Hinduism goes back into the bronze age. To be fair, none of those ancient creeds bear much resemblance to their present day iterations. tl;dr Christianity is the oldest/most established european faith. Ancient Hinduism never really spread beyond South-West Asia.

The roots of Christianity go waaaay back before the bible.

I don't think that SexayMistahBee knew what buddhism was before he was indoctrinated into christianity. That is my point. The only reason for his faith is circumstance.

Buddhism is a branch of Hinduism. Basically the same thing, except Buddhism is just a way of life. They don't praise a god. Which sounds much better IMO. Humans aren't supposed to worship. But yeah, China, Japan, India, etc. are Hindu/Buddhist, and happen to be the larger population of the Earth.

China isn't completely buddhist. In fact, China is not a particularly religious country. The Chinese gov't has imposed statewide atheism. In the west there is islam, in the east buddhism and christianity. In total a population of ~1.3 Billion people.

India is hindu. In total India has a population of ~1.2 Billion. The Hindu population is growing slower than islam/christianity. Less than 80% hindu

Japan is mostly agnostic. Smatterings of buddhism/christianity. In total a population of ~120 million (and shrinking)

All those countries together are far less than 1/2 of global population. Those countries also aren't particularly religious (India is only about 80% buddhist). Japan is only the 10th most populous country, I don't know why you're including it in your argument.

I'm not being deliberately confrontational, but you're wrong.

Buddhism and Hindu are pretty distinct. While they may share common ancestry, their present day forms are different. You even noted the distinction yourself

Buddhism is just a way of life. They don't praise a god.

There are only 900 Million Hindus in the world, and 400 Million Buddhists. Even added together that is only 1.3 Billion. There are over 2 Billion Christians. Christianity has the most followers.

You previously said that Buddhism had 4 billion followers. I don't know where you got that figure. It isn't true. Your facts/statistics are mostly conjecture. In pertaining to religious populations; this is a quantitative discussion. Please use quantitative arguments .

I don't know whether you are trolling. Don't post unsourced arguments please.

I'm not sure what side of the debate you are on but god can't prove anything if he doesn't exist.

I don't believe in god because there is no evidence for his existence. However like most idea's its better to say that you don't know until collaborating proof is established at the very least.

I feel like most people are born into religion, their family worships god so naturally they feel obligated, to also, follow and believe in god or whatever religion the family worships.

My question still stands. Why do you disbelieve other religions, and exclusively believe in your own? What makes one religion any more credible than the other (besides "faith").

I'm going after this question becuase I didn't even really understand your OP it wasn't worded very well. Anyways nothing makes a religion more credible than others it's just what the person or family believes is what's true once they're on that high horse there isn't really any coming down from it, they won't look at any other religion rationally or won't take time to question there own.

Your original post (I've read over it like 5 times now and still it's not clicking for me) I'm an atheist I don't believe in any religion or prophet or god. That's not a religion you can say it is, but it isn't.

People naturally as human beings aren't going to think they're wrong and even when there is overwhelming evidence to prove them otherwise they still won't budge on what they BELIEVE it's as if once they programmed themselves they won't accept they are wrong.

Infact I think you're an atheist too, you've basically shot down any positives of being a follower of a religion which I believe is wrong. There isn't anything wrong being a person of faith or a follower of a religion, the problem is not having an open mind about religion in general.

My thoughts are a bit scattered because I really don't understand what you were trying to convey, but I gave it my best shot.

Islam does not recognize Muhammed as the "Messiah" unlike Jesus in Christianity.

To My Point! I myself am Religious and was raised this way. Many people have tried to prove the existance of a God. Most notibly, imo, St. Thomas Aquinas of the Catholic church. I highly recommend reading his five truths.
I believe that the human race cannot be a coincidence :). Everything would have to be perfect. Until Extra Terrestrial life is discovered my opinion will be hard to change. I don't know if my faith is correct, but I know that some Divinity-be it Catholic God, or something else- is out there.
