evolution isnt a religion.
what would happen to the sinners? well, seeing how we all sin, we would prolly just die, and stay in a hole after we die. there would be no heaven.

What you claim a religion to be then? You have in your siggy

To make a religion what all do you need? Well : A holy document (darwins book Orgin of Species) , millions-billions of idiots (all those who believe in evoltuion). Stir well and you get a Relgious form of Evoltuion!

Heaven is then a reward for the believers, and the sinners would be sent to a hole. Those who chose not to live in a hole for eternity would therefore be religious.

darwins origin of species is not a holy document..

it is not worshiped

and everyone is a sinner.

good night.

Heaven- A wonderful made up place to get people to do good so they can be rewarded to go here after death

Hell- A bad made up place to try and scare people from doing bad things out of fear they will go here

God- A made up 'thing' to try and answer all the unanswerable questions

Exactly.

But He said by logic. Santa isn't an all-powerful creature. He doesn't have a workshop at the N. Pole, atleast I haven't seen any in pictures. It is logically impossible for a human of this era to stop in every house with children in 24 hours.

The same logic can be applied to God, in that an all-loving, all-powerful, all-knowing God would not deliberately set up the universe to cause the amount of suffering it has.

Santa's magic. He can do whatever he wants.

Evolution isn't a religion, and has yet to have major faults found in it by the world's most brilliant minds.

The suffering caused by us, is self-inflicted.

Alrighty, I never heard santa referd to as magic, my bad.

Then free will doesn't exist.

How does free will not exist?

Evolution isn't a religion, and has yet to have major faults found in it by the world's most brilliant minds.

alrighty, what would you call it then?

i'm glad you have your own views, but I could simply write

Evolution: A made up "theory" thought to asnwer the questions of life, without responsiblity.

And of natural evils? The tsunami's, volcanic eruptions, and plagues of bacteria?

If God knows everything, then he knows what we are going to do. To be able to change our minds would mean that he is not all-knowing.

imnotcrazy357 said:

A working theory.

Well.

If you were drugged and then molested as a child, yet a few weeks later someone told you that you were molested, were you molested or not?

If someone else says they have interacted with God, is God real or non-existent?

Anybody else here an Atheist (I am)?

And of natural evils? The tsunami's, volcanic eruptions, and plagues of bacteria?

Are they really evil?

From a Christian perspective, yes the cause destruction, but they also provide plenty of places of ministry for Christians.

If God knows everything, then he knows what we are going to do. To be able to change our minds would mean that he is not all-knowing.

Yes. I'm not really understanding the second part. Because He has the ability to change minds, means He is not all-knowing?

A working theory.

A working theory that has major faults found in it by the world's most brilliant minds, doesn't seem very working to me, it simply seems a proposition of what could of happened throught the time before we have history about. Religious documents simply do the same.

By that logic, killing hundreds of people is a good thing because it provides work for undertakers.

Yet I'd say that the tragedy of the loss outweighs those marginal benefits.

No, I'm saying that since God knows what is going to happen 10 minutes from now, I don't really have any choice as to what I'm going to do.

Evolutionary theory has actually been verified by the world's most brilliant minds, and had a few fringe "scientists" try to poke some holes in it. However, in every single major debate, court case, etc., I.D. proponents come out looking like fools, and evolutionists fully win.

So lets give an example, Because 100 people died from a flood, 1,000's homes are demolshied. This happens in a foreign land with an unstable government, unsutable to help the the situation. Christians, and rescue worker go in to help these people rebuild there homes. Lets say that half of the community becomes Christian from this situation. There are thousands saved, in the eyes of the Christians, with only few dieing, but they still died for a purpose.

No, I'm saying that since God knows what is going to happen 10 minutes from now, I don't really have any choice as to what I'm going to do.

You can do whatever you want in the enxt 10 minutes can't you?

Because someone is knowledgeable of what you are doing, or of what you are going to do, doesn't hinder what you have the ability of doing.

So I will never find a major debate with the Intelligent Design side winning?

I doubt that that many people would become Christian from such a tragedy.

Some disasters occur that have such overbearing negativity that any positive results completely pale in comparison. Think of the Holocaust, or Stalin's starvation of his own people. The magnitude of the horrors produced by those events completely overwhelmed any positive results (yes, I know that they weren't natural occurrences, but you get the point).

If God knows what I'm going to do, that implies predestination.

Probably not, no. I'm sure you might find a few isolated cases, sure, but of course, sometimes you get idiots to argue your cause.

The suffering caused by man, is self-inflicted.

If God knows what I'm going to do, that implies predestination.

I hate it when you use big words, you always make me open up wiki.

If God knows all that is going to happen, does not imply that He forces you to commit such actions.

Lets say I had a time machine, and I saw everything that happens in your life, Go back to the time I should be in. I now know everything that is going to happen, and has happened in your life. How does that take away your free will if I never interfere with you, and your choices. Just because I know something doesn't mean that I am taking away your freewill.

I'm going to look into this, I remember something about a I.D. debator, that my old teacher told me about, I just need to find his name.

Remember that Tsunami in December 2004? Did man do that to himself?

If that happened, it was always going to happen. From the moment that God created the universe, he knew that that was going to happen.

Good luck.

i look at it like this...

why question one's faith about god being real or unreal when it doesnt matter if he/she exists or not cuz that person belives and has faith reguardless.

If that person believes, and God does not exist, then they are wasting their life. It's also tremendous fun.

Essentially, atheists believe in the concrete, non-abstract concepts in life. Anything that even releases a hint of abstraction, is immediately disbelieved in and scolded.

I personally believe that everyone is free to believe in what/who they want to believe in, as long as it doesn't violate someone else's right to believe in what they want.

Not really. I believe in certain abstract concepts, such as the immutability of logic, etc. I just don't believe in ones that don't seem reasonable to me.

Do you remember where this happened at? In the part of Asia where it hit, it is primarily buhddist in that area. Other buhddist who were not impacted by this tsunami, often ddi not help any of these people try and recover, because they thought it to be karma. It was many Christians who went in to help these people, and many people were saved from the tragedy.

If that happened, it was always going to happen. From the moment that God created the universe, he knew that that was going to happen.

Yes, He knew it was going to happen, before He created the Universe. Again, because something is known, does not mean that it takes away free will.

Good luck.
Thanks.
