My First Day at Kodak(Part 2 Of Hired at a Fortune 500 Company)

So I got hired at Kodak(see previous thread if u want), a fourtune 500 company.


Today was my first day, and boy oh boy was it a surprise.


So my job was production assembler right? So 30 minutes in after I got there, one of my 2 bosses comes up and tells me the guy they hired to work in the clean room cant do it because he's "clausterphobic" and cant get in a hazmad suite?

Guess what, they moved me there.


So now instead of doing the electrical side of a print heads, I am now doing the cleaning & bonding of them in a clean room.


It's rough putting on a full hazmad suit,took me 20 minutes to do.

Downside:
-Harder,more complex job
-No food/drink in clean room
-Hazmad suite 24/7
-My shift is 2nd shift(20 people in the building compared to 200 1st shift).


Upside:
-I get paid 30 minutes of over time extra every day due to having to "suit up" so I get an extra $9 a day(which brings my hourly pay to nearly $14/hr)
-I get 2 paid breaks(15 mins each)
-I have some downtime(I'm doing bonding with clue so we put 3 cases of 8 in these giant ovens that bake them for 2 hours 30 minutes, so we had like a full hour of downtime where I got on sythe at kodak in a clean room(I'm allowed)
-In the clean room ur allowed to not use ur breaks & leave 30 minutes early and still get paid.

So today I left at 2 pm instead of 2;30 because I didnt use my breaks, still got paid fully though




My boss's seem okay, the younger hot one(soz im a perv) is the floor manager so I dont get to see her, my one is older but she seems meh.



Thoughts plox ?


PS: Due to the extra pay, my pay is $14/hr, with pension(7%) its $15 an hr

Check your pay comparative to what other people who are doing the same job are getting paid.

This, sounds like you got baited into this position.

 

Even if he did he baited into the position. The experience is what is key it is also all comparative to where you live and what you're making. Take the experience and use it to find a better job in the field if that's what you're wanting to do.

 

Uh for $250 a day I'll happily be baited all they want lmfao.

Don't exactly understand what you're needing personal support with in regards to this. You seem, based on your last post,

quite content with your position. So what exactly is the issue at hand that you're requesting support on?

 

It's not support, but I got alot of advice on my first thread regarding my first job & stuff, I figured the people who took the time to sit & type out advice to me would at least appreciate an update regarding what happened.

Seemed like the proper thing to do with how many responses my last support thread got.

So you are working for a "fortune 500 company" in what sounds like some sort of warehouse or assembly line making $14 an hour at time and a half which means your base pay without overtime would be around $9 (basically minimum wage). I'm not sure what this thread has to do with personal support, but cool nice work.

 

I make $14 an hour, overtime is $21/hour.

My retirement plan makes 10% of my income untaxable(its removed from my check-no taxes).

Then I have a 5% matched 401k

+ Free benefits

+ Paid Lunch & breaks

+Fourtune 500 company on my resume

+ My sites

$100,000+ a year in NET PROFIT, with everything combinded(my sites did $72,000 this year in NET, Job is paying around $33,000.

To be honest it sounds like you are just trying to brag. Any time someone gives you their opinion, if it is against the job, you seem to ignore it. I don't get your logic. What do your sites have to do with this FORTUNE 500 COMPANY? Going by your logic, if I make 100 grand from my sites and I work at McDonalds "look at me, i'm making over 100 grand working at McDonalds it must be a good job". Your total income is nice. Your new job isn't really something to brag about.

 

This, while you may be happy, you would be happier with an extra couple grand a year in pocket money

This sounds like you're bragging more than asking for help. Honestly companies like these just use employees like you, and they will cut you off at the last minute to take away your benefits. This job sounds easily replaceable as well as in any average joe could complete the job.
