Put auto bumper thread in its own section and (maybe) category

This thread: https://www.sythe.org/threads/official-auto-bump-test-thread would be way more effective if it were in its own section and category. A test thread like this has no business being mingled in with content, whether that content is shitposting or not. It also discourages exploration of the spam forum because this is what you see, regardless of time of day, on the home page:



I'm proposing a new category too because it doesn't really fit anywhere else, but this is less necessary. Its own section is an absolute must though. This would help make it more visible too, instead of just expecting users to know that there's a random thread in the spam forum for their auto bumper testing.

Before anyone argues that a lone thread in its own section cannot be "bumped" (as in - getting it to rise to the top of the thread list), you are correct, but posting by its very nature implies bumping. Users don't need to see their thread move to the top of the list at the expense of the enjoyment of an entire, content-driven section.

Reason you may ask? Makes no sense to add more sub sections, especially just for something like this. They are not getting anything from the spam section

A lot of non Spam Users are posting in here. I 100% agree it should be stickied to the spam forum or in a different section itself.

If @Blupig didn't make this suggestion, I would have.

 

Would love to hear an alternative. Like @Juws said none of you guys frequent the spam forum so it doesn't affect you. That thread being constantly bumped legitimately puts a dent in the enjoyment of the section. If you don't want a new section for it then maybe there should be a better system in place for auto bumping.

 

Don’t get me wrong, I hate that thread, but there are several reasons it needs to move:

1. It takes away from spam forum posts. I won’t see the latest content because people keep bumping the thread. Yes, it’s one thread, but I assume there are no new spam posts because all I see is the auto bump thread.

2. It’s the most active thread on the forums. If anything, the thread deserves a spot more than SytheLib.

3. It’s not that difficult to sticky it or move it away from the spam forum.

I hope people realize that this isn't a troll. We genuinely want something done about the thread.

 

I have literally only just came back so yeah spam isn't my place, the thread is simply there for testing no need to put it elsewhere

 

A few thoughts:

1) Moving the thread could be beneficial, but you have to be cognizant of where it goes. If it's moved into an active sub-section, it's going to create many of the same issues within the respective section that caused you to make this suggestion.
2) We are all aware that SF posts don't increase post count. There are currently no restrictions on how frequently you post in the test thread like there are for buy/sale threads. If it's moved into another section, what's to stop someone from abusing the heck out of the thread for easy post count?
3) Perhaps it could be moved to a dead-content section, like one of the Sythelib subs that hasn't been active in 2+ years?
4) At the very least, I do think sticky'ing it in SF makes sense.

 

Ask RuneMetrix & Lvl Up to stop bumping that thread, seems like they're the only ones doing it

Lol bro it's a donor feature test thread in a section that is meant to be fun. Just make another section, prevent new threads, disable post count, and boom, problem solved.

 

I haven't read all comments so excuse me if I'm repeating something previously said.

Support this, though it could bring up the same issue people have in the Spam Forum now.

Perhaps move it to Viral Threads, as that's an inactive section anyways, though one could argue such thread would never be found by newer users.

Another possibility could be to sticky such thread, so it's a bit more seperated from the usual kind of threads.

Regardless like @Pikachu said the thread isn't meant to be used for a longer period of time anyways, God knows why you would want to keep on bumping that thread if your autobumper is properly working. I'd say such testing could also be done in your own personal sale threads, just so long as you follow the section rules.

 

If it's going to move to an existing section it should be sandbox if anything

 

But where in the sandbox would it sit? Other than maybe in one of the stickies or something maybe as a practice thread
