Punishment?

We all should get refunded or something Trusted members should pay something like they do in dicing ccs like a 1b fund and they can have it back when they want but not if they scam it should be used to pay off the people that they scammed.

I disagree entirely. You overlooked the general point Driller was making. Forget the refund babble.

Yea, people aren't getting the point of the thread. I had pictures, I had evidence, but it is all for nothing because of one picture? That's the point of the thread, I just want a better reporting system so this can't happen as easily in the future.
I actually do agree with this for the most part. It's dumb that someone can get away with only a TWC or no twc at all after scamming, only because one picture was not supplied. If all other pictures are there, then I personally think that that picture should be obsolete in such a situation if hard core evidence is supplied without that one picture.

However, your other suggestion about staff or someone trusted should refund someone is totally garbage and should never happen lol.

Read my last point.

The culprit should've at the very least been given a 'Trade with caution' rank. This should be utilized more often.

In dicing if a trusted rank scams you the owner may usually refund you so the clan can keep it's good and trusted name. Same with other businesses. And I don't really are about the refund, that's not the point of the thread. I am saying someone can be easily scammed and no one is punished. The amount of effort needed to report a scammer is far more than the amount to scam. And even with all of my evidence it isn't enough because of one picture? It's proves the reporting policy is a bit broken.
And that's for a rank. Someone who pays to receive that rank. Sythe doesn't require people to pay to create an account, it lets the user create accounts for free.

Again people are ignoring the main point. The orignial post said OR. Has anyone ever heard this word? The topic is about the reporting a scammer policy and that alone. One sentence with OR in it doesn't make it the main point of the thread. -.-

I'm assuming this is in reference to http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=1260257 this thread. Those pictures show you coming to an agreement, and starting a trade. Whether he did or didn't give you the pin, the content of those pictures would be the same. You weren't missing one picture, you were missing any evidence that you were scammed. If we banned people based on what you provided then anyone could make a report after a successful trade, only showing what happened before the trade - we might as well just ban anyone who is ever accused.

Additionally, losing only your disposable account if you scam is a fact of the Internet, whether you're selling Runescape items or real-life goods. The Ic3 act is all we have, and it's pretty garbage. Welcome to the 21st century.

In dicing, the host pay the owner in case something like this happens. The owner takes responsibility and assures people that his hosts won't scam. The mods here don't assure people that the users won't scam.

Yeah, I had a hard time on most other sites trying to get someone banned for scamming me. You pretty much have to have proof of them saying SCAMMED.

Understandable though..

Your analogy is lacking one extremely important point: in dicing, the owner takes a tax, which in part goes to ensure the safety of his customers. If you want to have a website that takes such a fee on all trading activity, go to PlayerAuctions. On Sythe we do no such thing because we respect people's privacy and right to avoiding such fees.

Would've been nice if there was evidence to support a TwC, sadly an accusation isn't evidence.

1. Don't accept Paypal from anyone you don't trust
2. Don't go first
3. Don't be greedy and pay for a middle man

Result: Don't get scammed --> yey!

It's your own fault if you get scammed most of the time. By successfully doing trades you build up a rep and people will go first to you. Sythe.org forums are based on trust because too many people scamming, use it in your advantage.

Cheers!

I have to agree somewhat. I was scammed 276m by a vouched person. The person is question was banned, but for 90days. He can come back in 3months and continue scamming without paying my back sadly.

I hope people get IP Banned when banned for scamming.

People do get IP banned for scamming, I hope. It's just it's not hard to use a proxy or VPN if you're that desperate and come back to the site on a new IP.

Just to clear this up: scamming is an offense that generally does get an IP ban. We want nothing to do with somebody who scams, and we spend a lot of time trying to catch the new accounts of scammers. With the way the Internet and IP addresses work, however, in some cases it's easier to ban evade than it is to catch them. Many routers can reset their IP by simply resetting them, and anyone can log via proxy. In short, we're doing out best but the rules of the Internet are against us in many ways.

Its your own fault. You forgot to take the most important picture. If valid proof weren't required, anyone could be framed for scamming.

Whats the case when a scammer only gets 90days banned?
