    Botnets...?

Firstly, I find it ridiculous that people are banned for something that is not once mentioned (or even hinted to) in the rules. If this is going to be a part of the rules, then it should actually be in the rules, as opposed to existing as a sort of oral rule.

Secondly, there doesn't even seem to exist a consensus as to what this "rule" entails.
In regard to Sin's above post, she has radically changed what the rules say from "posting infected files" to "distributing infected files" which would mean that the rules apply not only to our actions on this site, but our actions everywhere.

Something about botnets should be added to the rules (if this is truly against the rules), and what the rule actually means should be cleared up.

I agree it should be put in the rules, but it's a fairly obvious thing. I mean you logically wouldn't do that. It's one of those unspoken rules.

I see no problem in specifically adding it to the rules.

I have added nothing to the rules. Anyone who brags about hacking accounts, scamming, committing paypal fraud, or keylogging (regardless of where) has, traditionally, been perm'ed.

My understanding of botnets is limited pretty much to this, and wikipedia. But, from what I do know, botnets don't seem much different from things we already disallow.

support, and banning for no reason, they should provide 100% proof of what you've done or you've didnt even do anything wrong

But Jethr0x tried to infect people on this site with his botnet, and after his ban when he was evading, he posted a link to it.

At the very least, can you add something about botnets to the rules, to make it clear that if you own a botnet- you will be banned?

Just because he has one doesn't mean he deserves to be banned...He hasn't did anything wrong with it..

Why even bring that up? Who said I use them or condone the use of them?

    Nobody said you did.

That also means private servers wouldn't be here, is what Tr1bal was getting at.

As for the botnets, I don't think it should be a problem, if they aren't DDoSing/Infecting other users of Sythe. If it is going to be a rule, however, I do support it should be in the rules.

Like I said: "Why even bring that up? Who said I use them or condone the use of them?"

Don't go around telling people things are illegal for no reason. Nobody was talking about private servers and I certainly was not. Get rid of them, for all I care.

*walks up to random person on the street*
Me: Hey, uh... Murdering someone is illegal.
Person: Ok.. Why are you telling me this? I already know.
Me: BLAH BLAH BLAH I was making a point that isn't relevant! SHEESH!

Actually the server files arn't it's the clients that are illegal as you use their models etc.

    You mean.. clients like these?
    http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=109407
    http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=719396
    http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=404861

Nobody did, but because there is no problem with them here at Sythe, it's clearly not "common sense that wouldn't be here."

But they are here at Sythe, which would mean that something cannot be disallowed here purely on the basis that it is illegal.
