    Protein Powder?

What protein powder are you taking and why?

Could potentially be on the market for a new protein powder. I'm a pretty health conscious guy and am currently taking some really healthy organic whey protein. But if someone is seeing some incredible gains as a direct result of a certain protein powder I'd love to hear about it.

    Protein Powder?

Interested in seeing people's experiences with protein powder. I've done a little research and Gold Standard 100% whey protein seems to get good ratings but I'm not sure if I'd see any results(pretty skinny guy)

    Protein Powder?

I looked at Gold Standard and it had almost the exact same ingredients as a protein powder half the price of it. I'm thinking they are all hype.

    Protein Powder?

Walmart/other cheap crap has a lot of fillers, and it tastes absolutely terrible to boot.

I just use myProtein (us.myprotein.com). You can get 11lbs for like $65 with coupons and it's great quality stuff.

Honestly if you're concerned about making gains eat a lot and lift hard. That's literally as basic as it gets. There's not some magical protein powder that will make your muscles bulge out of your skin.

Eat a lot, work your ass off in the gym, maybe get a protein shake here or there if you don't eat meat/proteins, and you'll start seeing results in no time.

Lol every time I make a thread looking for some opinions on something people take it on themselves to shell out advice about lifting where it wasn't asked, the ego on some people.

I'm looking to find out what the best protein powders are according to people who have used them. I am doing just fine with what I've got, but if someone has something better I'd love to hear about it.

Don't need a lesson on how lifting works, nor did I ask for it.

    Protein Powder?

    LOL "the ego"

The fact that I could say "Oh yeah syntha-6 is magic dude the gains are real!!!" and you would buy it and think it's somehow different than every other whey protein isolate/concentrate/blend powder on the market goes to show both your lack of knowledge and buying into the marketing scams in the fitness industry.

The only difference in whey proteins is the percentage of pure whey protein vs. the other fillers that come along when it's separated from milk in the blend (Whey protein -> comes from milk). Isolate is the highest percentage of pure protein (~90%)and concentrate the second (~80%) most, but either can be hydrolyzed, which allows it to absorb more quickly by breaking down the amino acids' linking bonds. However, hydrolyzed protein doesn't create a higher protein content; it simply affects the absorption time.

So if you have two companies that have a pure whey protein isolate, they both are going to have >90% protein content. Other than that there really isn't going to be a difference, so if you know the difference between whey concentrate and isolate, there literally should be no difference between one isolate and the next; it all becomes flavor at that point.

Other than MusclePharm, which was found to be lying in their protein content numbers, don't worry about the brand name and worry about what's in it/the protein percentage.

So no one is going to see "direct gains from a certain protein powder." That is both misguided and incorrect to assume, and you should simply educate yourself more as to how protein works rather than the "magic" behind a certain brand that you see from cool marketing schemes and commercials.

If you want a professionally tested list of protein powders and the honesty behind their numbers, go to https://labdoor.com/rankings/protein . They test proteins for their accuracy in label, purity of product, and safety of ingredients.

I recently switched over to bio whey about 2 months ago. It's organic and you can buy in bulk and save a decent amount of money. They even have 5 gallon containers if you want to buy wholesale.

    Protein Powder?

Extremely helpful answer. Thanks. I was reading ingredients on name brands vs. some other not so popular and they had almost identical ingredients and amounts. But name brands costed 2x as much. That's why I wondered if I was missing something, if there was some magic to certain ones.

    Thanks :)

    Protein Powder?

Hey no problem. I would definitely look into LabDoor for the check and myprotein for the protein. Loads of super high quality protein for the cost (Whey protein isolate should be the best quality for the price)

    Good lucK!

    Protein Powder?

I got Mutant whey and the quality is high but so is the price. It tastes really good. I personally think most of the shit on the market is pretty much the same or at least have very similar formulas, just stick to proper food, always better than supplements. I use supplements myself as it's perfect before bed and cant be fucked to cook that late.

    Protein Powder?

I am a die hard ALLMAX fan, ALL of their products are amazing, including their Iso-flex protein.

They do Third party outsourcing to *pharmaceutical grade cGMP, government-inspected facilities to validate quality and ingredients. While also diminishing inconsistencies with label and product. Outside of this, they indredients are highest quality, and VERY LOW sugar content.

There are MUCH cheaper ways to create protein blends with gargbage to insure good taste, they avoid this and still manage to make their stuff taste amazing.

    Highly highly recommend.

In all honesty, I use Groupon to get my protein. It has some insanely good deals and brands that are actually okay.
