Problems loading rs

Well when i load rs i downloaded the java it told me to, im on a new laptop atm.
however my screen only get to connecting to update servers then it tries to move further but just stays there, then after a minute loads up a screen saying:
RuneScape was unable to connect to the update server. This is most likely caused by a firewall blocking the connection.

To resolve this:

* If you have firewall or security software installed, they can often block RuneScape from accessing its servers. Please ensure that RuneScape/Java can connect to its servers on port 43594.
* Note: Windows XP Service Pack 2 has built in firewall software. If, when loading RuneScape, this asks if you want to allow the connection, you need to say 'yes'.
* If that doesn't help, then an external firewall may be causing the problem. Please ask your network adminstrator/ISP to open port 43594 for TCP traffic so that RuneScape and Java can run correctly.

Try updating to Windows Service Pack 3, re-install Java and restart your computer.

Also, try clearing your cookies + cache + temporary internet files (use CCleaner [if you don't know what that is, goodle it]).

Also, if you're running vista, when you're opening Internet Explorer/Firefox right-click it and select 'Run as Administrator.'

If you're still having problems, try loading RuneScape in a Client rather then a webbrowser (RuneScape Loader below [of my own making ]).

Here's what you need to do when dealing with java:

Older versions of Sun Java have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Virtumonde (aka Vundo) often takes advantage of these vulnerabiities.

Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and then get updated to the current version.

At the time of writing this, the current Sun Java versions is: Java(TM) 6 Update 11


Step1: Download the current version but do not install it yet

* Download the latest version Sun Java here: Sun Java Runtime Environment
* Save it somewhere you can find it later.

Step2: Uninstall all old versions

* Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
* Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java. Here are a bunch of examples of how older versions may appear. Uninstall all of these if found:
o IBM 32-bit Runtime Environment for Java 2, v1.4.2
o Java Runtime Environment 1.1
o Java 2 Runtime Environment Standard Edition v1.3.1_02
o Java 2 Runtime Environment Standard Edition v1.3.1_04

* Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
* Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each old Java version.
* Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.

Step3: Install the current version

* Exit all browsers (including this one so read the rest or print the instructions if you cannot remember them)
* Refer to step one and locate the file you downloaded. Double click on it and accept any license agreements and allow it to be installed.
* It take awhile for this to install so be patient. Do not run anything else while installing and keep all browsers closed while installing.
* After installing the current version, reboot if it tells you it needs to. It does not always need this reboot so don't worry if it does not ask you to reboot.
