Problem with my ipod nano gen2

I got a ipod nano gen 2 (the recatnle with the small screen no video) about 2 years ago. I have not opened it till today. I plugged it into my computer to let it charge/put some songs on it. Now, evertime i take out the cord connecting it to my computer it freezes. Even restart (menu middle) doesnt work. Can anyone please help me with my problem?

Do you unplug the cord from the USB port or from the iPod?

Did you click on eject hardware before disconnecting it, because you have to hit that first on most iPods

Manually restore your ipod and then try doing it again. Here's how:

    1. Toggle the hold button on and off (slide to hold and then back again).
    2. Press and hold down the menu and center button for at least 6 seconds until the apple logo appears.
    3. Plug into computer and restore data.
