Can someone explain to me how it's Probemas that has to issue a refund? Yes he's the original account owner but the account has been re-sold numerous times.

Shouldn't IHQ refund Reuben and then seek a refund from the person who sold it to him? Him being liable at all times for an account he sold months ago and was re-sold makes 0 sense.

It does make sense lol. Probemas should have 0 issues recovering it, except it wasn't him who made it so he isn't recovering on the original IP. He claimed original owner, and original owners can ALWAYS recover it because of IP checks. No matter how many times you change the password or owners, original owner is always liable as you're using his name.

The fact that he lied about being OO, refused to recover it at first and is now blaming it on skate22 is bizarre. I doubt he gave any of the recovery info to skate22, making him recover it 100% impossible.

Even though your opinion is bias I'll respond. So you think it's fair to have someone on the line for recovering an account FOREVER?

IHQ should be on the line for recovering the account for Reuben since HE is the one who sold the account to him. Why should Probemas refund Reuben when they had NO interaction with each other?

Also, you should refrain from using absolutes when dealing with Jagex. Saying original owners can "ALWAYS" recover an account isn't exactly true. Jagex has often changed there stance on things and if they detect the account is changing hands they'll block recovery attempts.

IHQ should refund Reuben if he can't recover the account, If Skate can't recover the account then skate should refund IHQ and so on.

Videos opinion here:

"The fact is that if you are the original owner as you repeatedly claim you are, you should at no time have any problem recovering the account, even if hundreds of people have received solely rental information."

Isn't entirely true. If Jagex see's hundreds of different IP's on an account in a short amount of time they'll block recovery attempts because they believe the account is being sold. Again, why is this probemas problem? It shouldn't be.

And the reason why this is bothering me is because i posted a thread about something similar and received an answer from Superman:

I can post my opinion on the subject of recovery here:

It seems many of you operate under the assumption that once the buyer of an account claims the account has been stolen, the seller is automatically responsible for recovering the account or refunding the buyer. To my understanding this stems from the belief that only the original owner can recover an account.

While it may be true that the original owner has an advantage in recovering an account (geographic location, firsthand experience with account information), it is not true that only the original owner can recover an account. Successful recovery tests done by MMs can serve as examples of non-original owners recovering accounts. Another example can be those that we banned some time ago for recovering very old accounts that they weren't theirs, and those that published guides for doing so. Personally, I know that Jagex's recovery system is largely a crapshoot. Original owners can be denied recovery, non-original owners can have their appeals accepted with little to no proof. The system has always been rather unpredictable.

Now even if it were true that only the original owner could recover an account, I would argue that any staff member need not take action against a seller unless there is proof that damns him. An example of damning proof would be a seller recovering an account and then attempting to resell it. In that case the staff member can ban the user because he is sure the seller is at fault. See here for an example: http://www.sythe.org/report-scammer-archive/1800765-hidden_-reselling-account.html

What seems to be happening should stop: sellers should not be held responsible for refunding or recovering if their buyers merely claim their accounts are out of their possession. Although this might be the easiest way for staff to handle scam reports, it is not fair to the seller and leaves much wiggle room for buyers to scam. Granted, account disputes are difficult to judge fairly because sometimes it's hard to establish who has possession of the account. To remedy that, instead of automatically holding the seller responsible, we all need to be encouraging users to draft their own agreements that enumerate exactly what is expected of the seller/buyer if the account is claimed to be stolen or locked. Then, given proof of those terms, we (staff) can properly mediate between the two parties and help them reach an agreement. But unless there is overwhelming evidence that proves someone is guilty of account scamming, we should not be banning anyone.

The pre-trade agreement mentioned can be quite simple and we can easily throw up a sticky template. If the traders don't list terms beforehand then, as with all scam reports, the buyer needs to prove the seller is at fault and has scammed in order for us to take action.

I'm not biased at all, I just feel like it's unjust to sell an account and claim original owner when you aren't even the original owner. I also feel it is stupid to give out any recovery info if you are a reputable original owner to prevent these issues. The 1/3 1/3 1/3 would probably be the best solution.

I haven't really looked into it thoroughly but as far as I see it, IHQ is liable for the sale to Ruben, Skate is liable for the sale to IHQ and Probemas is liable for the sale to Skate meaning that Probemas is in fact the blame here, however it wouldn't be right that Skate shouldn't have to refund IHQ and IHQ shouldn't have to refund Ruben. Each sale should be treated separately and whoever fails to recover/refund the account sale should be held liable and get banned for scamming.

Just saying Skate has been accused of selling and recovering the account before, there was screenshots but the user never updated the report with the rest of the proof. He also leads a team of DDoSers on 07 so there's that too. Money is on him recovering it to see if there were any lootations on it and he probably lent it out to one of his mates who got banned by Yagex for World DDoSing.

I think you're all underestimating the possibility to recover an account without being the OO, I personally trade a lot of accounts and even if you get 100% of the accounts info correct there's still a huge chance the appeal will get denied. If what you said is indeed true however, then Skate should be responsible obviously and he would have to bear the consequences.

No proof of Skate22 being responsible

I sold an account which was resold multiple times by owners. I couldn't recover the account but one of the buyers was able to with the information he had, I still don't know why. I think you guys are overestimating the likely hood of original owners always being able to recover the account.

I agree. Each sale should be separate so IHQ should refund Ruben.

I have been watching this report too.

Me personally already buying a couple of maxed accounts here for rentals makes me wonder what the point is in selling an account at all.

If you sell an account to someone, it is then your liability to recover it for them if anything happens right? But if they then choose to sell it to someone else it should then become their responsibility? Correct me if I'm wrong I just thought it was common sense.

If I'm the original owner of the account and the account gets re-sold 10 times then why should I be held liable for the 10th person who bought it? Doesn't make any sense to me.

It doesn't make sense to me why Probemass is unable to recover the account if he's the original owner, if you log into an account repeatedly will the system assume you are the original owner? If he didn't give that Skate guy any of the recoveries then how is it possible for him to recover? Probemass still shouldn't be responsible for an account bought and sold numerous times after his original sale either unless he's the person who recovered it.
