Adjustable price setting on sales forums

I came up with this idea while searching the forums for 07gp. It is very frustrating for me when I have to click threads which have an advertised price in the title and a different number in the post itself. To remedy this inconvenience as well as to offer a new tool to posters I propose we either,

A. Allow for the adjustment of post titles in sales forums.

or,

B. Provide a new "Price" option within threads which may or may not require an input but offer the ability to list a price in a similar fashion to that of a craigslist ad.

I am completely open to other ideas as well. It just really is a bit of a nuisance for buyers and sellers alike in my opinion. What do ya'll think?

 

If you ask me this would be way too much work for mods to keep up with.
They'd have to check each thread to see if they are lying abouy prices etc.

Easiest is just to add them/join livechat and ask the prices.

 

Like a few other suggestions that have been similar, it doesn't work.
The OP is usually the company owner, with workers that won't be able to access this tool you are suggesting.
It would also require constant updating, which takes time.
It would also be impossible for websites that offer discounts on higher amounts of gold.

For discounts on higher amounts of GP, a price range could be specified.
It's fine if only the owner can change it; I doubt they'd need to change the price more than once a week anyway, unless it's for a new game like DS.
The current system where you report your thread in order to get its name changed is really obtuse, takes ages, and requires someone to manually do the change. By the time my thread title changes my prices are already out of data. An automatic system would be far better.

 

Gp prices change daily, if not every hour.
The best solution is to not have your price in the title, but just have people click the thread and see the prices in there, or on the selling website.

 

This is kind of a method used to attract people. The prices specified are usually available only for like 500M+ 07 if you're paying with btc only. But it's easy enough to simply talk to them and find the updated prices.

 

I disagree, people already take the time to update their threads every day, this is meant to be an easier way to do that. As for merchants with discounts, they are still listing a base price on their threads.

 

I don't think you realize how difficult this would to be tracked rek. Suppose the prices change multiple times in a day. Who would track this? For all 07, rs3, ikov, cs:go, etc markets? That is a LOT of work for mods.

Should you find a company constantly offering worse rates than their advertised price, report it with the proof.

EDIT: Allowing for changing the titles once again lands us in the same problem: companies advertised prices are inaccurate. Without moderation, it's still on their word that their advertised price is accurate. Mods would not be able to continually handle this, it'd be too much unrealistic work.

 

I'm not sure about other sellers but I always keep my price updated on my thread. I've actually resorted to making a new post myself for the reason that I was unable to edit my price in the title.

 

I suppose you are referencing my suggestion to make it a rule that you must keep your price updated. You make good points, so how do you feel about providing this tool for merchants without making it mandatory?

 

Don't see the need for it. Price fluxuations are usually not too often, therefore reporting the thread for a title change is fine. Usually only takes a day max for that.

 

So which is it? Haha. Seriously though, how could you not, at the very least, see this as a convenient and useful tool? Not to mention that this would also result in staff having to handle a much lower volume of title change requests.

 

Prices can change per country of the buyer, per amount, per payment method, depending on stock.

What the OP is after would require MULTIPLE changes per day for most goldshops. Consider doing that at multiple forums and you'd need to hire someone fulltime just to keep updating topics. It's completely impossible.

 

You aren't the first one to say this and I have to be honest, I don't see where it is relevant to my proposal. Basically your logic is that people need to change their prices many times a day so we should NOT give them a quick and easy way to do that?

 

i really think we should let users edit their own titles.

but otherwise, nah, this isn't feasible/worthwhile. it's in your best interest to contact several goldsellers and play them off each other to get the best rate anyway. so your laziness in wanting to see all the prices immediately is exactly that imo. take five minutes to add 5-10 people and get yourself a deal

 

Well thanks for passing it off as laziness but it's not so much that as it is a desire to improve, excuse me, a shitty system. Not everyone wants to haggle and bid either. I still ask the same question to you, what makes it a bad idea to implement either a price option that can be edited or the ability to edit thread titles in sales threads?

 

I think this is a good idea, I just can't see it being implemented..

It's a marketing technique alone.. although misleading, many purposely advertise a great price to make people click on their thread, in hope to then be drawn to buying. This works and applies to people who can't be bothered looking for lower prices, and just want an instant and fast buy, and people who are looking for sellers with professional threads who seem and look legit.

Not only this, but prices change everyday and people change their prices daily, sometimes more than one time per day. On top of this, I know it's inconvenient for the buyer, but if you're looking for specific prices, post a buying gold thread.

Personally I would not mind seeing this but I know that programming something like this would not be easy. However, this would be nice to stop people from posting misleading threads saying selling gold for x amount then you click on the thread and its actually 20 cents more then the thread title says.

If you want to know up to date price, check site / skype, shouldn't be requirement
