Prioritize the to-do list directed @ sythe @ govind @ staff

I've spoken to several staff and frankly I think we all agree on one thing, We'd all like specific things to be worked on & targeted over others, someone wants one thing someone else wants another thing.


We all know about the "to-do" list Sythe keeps(either mentally or physically) of things to be done.


What I would like to suggest is the following:


Run a Poll listing whats currently on the top 10 things to be done, the community will be allowed to vote & based on that vote those things would be done in the order of the vote.



Why is this a benefit? The poll will only include things sythe already knows needs to be done, this way the higher admins can actually directly target what us(the community) want over just going down a list 1 by 1, It's not 100% perfect as u cant ever make a community like this 100% satisfied, but I think the poll should allow Sythe/Govind/Matthew/Firez to direct their attention(dev time) where the community wants it most.

It helps no-one if they work on 10 systems that are all half done and dont get released for years, this would allow them to know where to focus & what to finish.

i like the idea and am nearly always a supporter of crowdsourcing, so i support it in that regard. i think a lot of admin time is being devoted to a few select tasks right now, so maybe after those are in order we can try polling people for ideas

 

Of course, What sythe/govind and the other admins think is whats the top priority, but when their lost or are looking for what to do next I think a poll would be quite nice compared to a long ass list.

 

The poll idea is a nightmare, but having a progress/update list a good idea. AFAIK, we are doing some overhaul to new software in the obscure future, so most updates aren't being pursued.

 

:shrug: a list, a poll, whatever.


The community I think would like to effectively be able to watch & see progress lol even if its just a list with lines through completed items.


It's all the same idea, simply help prioritize & show(or help predict) whats being worked on to admins, staff & community.

 

Pretty sure this idea has been tossed around a fair bit. But I imagine after the software move we'll see some sort of rolling list implemented, a sort of extension of the Do Not Suggest (because they're already in progess).

 

All of the tasks are being worked on simultaneously. You'll see the updates as they come along, but trying to "prioritize" current needs will only affect other work being done. Holding a poll to dictate what Admins should be working on most likely won't happen either. Staff have personal lives and Admins will do their best when time is available to provide needed updates.

I would also like to note plenty of updates have pushed in the past few months (many of them visible to the community), so I'm not sure if you're posting this thread thinking nothing is getting done.

 

I support this but I'm pretty skeptical that this will actually happen though.

 

This. There is a big update coming soon that addresses most of the concerns from the community.

 

We can revisit this in the next two months - there's an update coming then that might make those updates easier / already completed so I'm gonna close this and say just hold off on this for 2 months.
