Powerbot is cancer.

I use premium bots from rsbots.net. I saw a nice script for powerbot the other day, so I finally gave in. I hesitantly clicked "download" from the powerbot website. Two days later I got a virus and my computer completely shit on the floor. I did a full system restore and all is good now, and my AV is up and running again. Powerbot is the only sketch thing I have downloaded, and by sketch I mean an untrusted source.

What did you download?
You should check the thread you downloaded from, though, I personally would use RSBuddy if I was you.
I have Nexus too, but I use RSBuddy for a lot too.

 

rsbuddy has some good free bot

 

If you got a virus two days later, it's most likely that you got a virus two days later that's unrelated to powerbot.

 

^ one kind of have to agree with this, unless the virus is only activated once you run the script and you din't run it till 2 days later.

I did about 1 month of research/forum lurking before i buy/use a bot.

Rsbuddy all the way if they don't have it, i don't use it.

EDIT: I've decided to provide an educational lesson here, Today is the age of java threats and drive-by's if you're not running firefox with noscript and a solid AV running daily scans it's like fucking a $5 whore without a condom.

Though powerbot is the worst bot... ever... I don't believe that it gave you that virus. It was probably something you downloaded right before you noticed you got the virus .

 

Powerbot isn't that bad. I use WhiteBearAIOFighter for powerbot and I think it's the best free combat script out there.

 

gotta agree some Powerbot scripts are nice.

@OP i don't think the virus was caused by RSBot.

 

RSBuddy FTW. RSbot had its day a couple years ago, time for something new to take over.

 

Powerbot has lost is reputation from corrupted programmers and staff. Still there are ALOT of people who use RSBots so its not like they will die anytime soon. Most people has moved on to RsBuddy, RiD and other bots but mostly RsBuddy. Don't think they gave you a virus though.

 

I wouldnt be too sure about powerbot, Rsbuddy should really be the way to go.
