Luring is acceptable on sythe?

Hello all, I'm Roman955 and am very new to sythe. I love the site and plan on using lots of the services here as long as osrs is still around. Browsing through the forums here, I've noticed several posts asking about luring partners and even the sticky for it. I am not one to judge, I just had a hard time believing that sythe not only tolerates, but caters to lurers. I am not looking to start arguments or be aggressive in anyway, just would love some opinions from all you guys on why this is allowed. With sythe having such a strict ban policy for scammers, it just kind of confused me that luring is considered fine. I guess that scamming in osrs is different than scamming in sythe, but it still seems very scummy. Like I said, I mean no offence by this post, only to gain some insight from other people. Thank you.

 

Loot from a lure does not have real life monetary value. The virtual items are only given value when there is a potential buyer, such as one found here on Sythe. Once the virtual good is given value what is stolen/scammed becomes a real world loss. In my opinion this is what seperates in game luring from scamming.

I agree with that point. The person has to be pretty dense to fall for a lure in 2017, but it's tricking someone out of there money. No betting, no services provided, just plain lying to dupe people out of their gear and items

 

Okay so like tricking a disabled person in life dose that make it right?

 

I am also against luring... it is just another form of scamming.

I think there was a suggestion made to forbid it here and it was being voted on by staff. Not sure what's up with it now.

 

Dont think so cuz it's like taking advantage of somebodys less understand of the game

 

I don't see why tricking other players like this should be allowed but hey I don't make the rules I just follow them
