    Pokémon Go - Tracker Update - 08-08-2016

Other than more minor text fixes, Niantic is testing out some new features for the tracker with selected users.
Here's a video of what it looks like:

On-screen pictures - My tracker just updated with an enhanced "Nearby" feature.

They're testing things now so it's probably going to be changed around before the release, although I must say they're definitely taking a step in the right direction.

    Some other updates

    ANDROID WHAT'S NEW

    • Added a dialog to remind Trainers that they should not play while traveling above a certain speed; Trainers will have to indicate they aren’t the driver
    • Fixed a bug that prevented ”Nice,” ”Great,” and “Excellent” Poké Ball throws from awarding the appropriate XP bonuses
    • Enabled the ability for Trainers to change their nickname one time, so please choose your new nickname wisely
    • Resolved issues with the battery saver mode on iOS and re-enabled the feature
    • Other fixes
    APPLE WHAT'S NEW
    • Added a dialog to remind Trainers that they should not play while traveling above a certain speed. Trainers must confirm they are not driving in order to continue playing
    • Made improvements to the accuracy of a curveball throw
    • Fixed a bug that prevented ”Nice,” ”Great,” and “Excellent” Poké Ball throws from awarding the appropriate experience bonuses
    • Fixed achievements showing incorrect Medal icons
    • Enabled the ability for Trainers to change their nickname one time, so please choose your new nickname wisely
    • Resolved issues with the battery saver mode and re-enabled this feature
    • Added visuals of Team leaders - Candela, Blanche and Spark
    • We're currently testing a variation of the "Nearby Pokémon" feature with a subset of users. During this period you may see some variation in the nearby Pokémon UI.
    • Minor text fixes
    Undocumented Changes
    • Sightings feature renamed. Grass added.
    • Major Text Changes

Personally not a fan of this system. I saw a visual suggestion awhile ago and it was a wheel with the pokemon on the direction of the wheel that it's in. Basically like a compass, it tells you if the pokemon is north, south, etc. I really liked that idea, and it made it easier to find them

I'd love a system using the compass. It's a mess walking in every direction trying to figure out if you're getting closer or not. I know niantic took down most of the third party tracking apps but I found one that works close to 100% of the time called poke radar. It uses player data to pinpoint spawn locations rather than someone saying that spotted a poké. Personally I've been enjoying it since I don't want to bot and I'm still having fun running around outside. Picked up a 2100 dragonite yesterday.
