It's their game, they can do whatever they want.

I have to admit I have heard quite a few cases of this happening in the last few days. Naturally, I just assumed that the person bought an upgrade that was charged back by the seller, but maybe that is not the case

If this IS in fact happening for no apparant reason to many players, Jagex can expect a massive public cry of outrage. Paying $20-50 to get your account out of negative credit is a fucking rip off in the first place.

 

Seriously.. The membership originally was $7.95, so why do we have to pay 300-600% More just to have our accounts returned?

 

95% of the pins on sythe are obtained illegally so in my opinion jagex has the right to do what ever the want. If your worried about your account buy your membership legitimately.

Edit: and to all the people saying it's a outrage that jagex charges $20-$50 to get your account out of negative credit it's your own fault. When you buy illegally obtained membership your're ripping jagex off, if there was no punishment what's to stop everyone from doing it.

Me selling a runescape account does not effect jagex's revenue and it's not illegal it's just violating their terms of service.

 

It's selling property that doesn't belong to you. Jagex states that they own every runescape account, so you are in fact selling Jagex's property =)

 

It's not against any rules world laws and jagex doesn't care for the most part because they are not losing revenue. When someone illegally obtains membership or charges it back jagex is directly losing money so there should be a punishment and if you think there shouldn't be then your just being ridiculous.

 

They have the right if the payment you used from China is fraudulent. Read through their terms and conditions of applying membership.

 

I doubt that it's jagex's falt too. Probably someone bulked blackhat pins.

 

It only goes into negative if Jagex finds out that it is a hacked card or code or if their system got played somehow.

 

I started hearing all these claims a few days ago too, and I also thought it was a chargeback by the seller. But I guess since Jagex lost a few hundred thousand memberships with the bot nuke, they need a new way to make more money, so they decide to say "Oh, unauthorized payment?" then they are stuck paying $20 for JCoins, pure profit for Jagex.
