If you want to go the desktop route, I'd recommend building one. You'll be able to pick and choose everything, so if you want to focus on CPU for example, you can cut down on RAM. You have absolute control.

If you wanted to stay with laptops, that's a little different. Any lower-tier gaming laptops would do fine though. I personally have a Lenovo Y40-80, it can tackle both those games you mentioned just fine and it was retailing about $700 US when I got it.

 

runescape isn't at all demanding. Even the integrated graphics in a haswell CPU could pretty much max it.
A pentium G3258 and a 750ti would be beyond adequate.

 

I wouldn't go building a PC just for rs3. You can get pretty good pcs off of amazon for around $600 - 1500 that would run runescape flawlessly..

 

You'll always be able to build something for cheaper than retail. Always. Doesn't matter if you have a $200 budget or a $3000 budget.

 

RS3 is really not worth building a PC for, besides, if you play cs 1.6 you might get the urge to play cs source or cs go at some point.

I agree with the previous comments.

 

With the new NXT I am able to max settings on my Macbook just fine, they really made it a lightweight client now. I'd suggest you wait till you can access NXT and then decide.

 

My $500 HP pavillion can run RS3 and csgo perfectly fine, you don't need a high end computer to play those two low graphic demanding games

 

I'd suggest you get a mouse that would make you feel like your using a PC (Saying you have a desk stationed.)..

If you have an HDMI cable you can hook it up to a tv, which is even more fun if you're skilling or doing safe activities.

If you really need a computer, then by all means find the right one for your budget. Everybody can handle using both a laptop / computer combo.

 

NXT has drastically improved optimization on systems of lower quality. If you're looking to play CS-anything and/or RS3, they both have very low system requirements. I wouldn't get a PC just for those, if you already have a decent macbook, just wait and test out the NXT client.

I wouldn't really call CS: GO low graphic, it's just very well optimized and at max settings it's very beautiful, same with RuneScape. They just have good optimization for lower spec PCs.

I definitely agree with all other previous comments saying you should build your own PC. I built my own when all the parts were worth $600. If I had it custom built it'd honestly be around $700 or more.

 

You can put together a $50-100 PC with parts from e-bay that are able to play RS3/CS perfectly fine.

 

Make a quick build for $100, I'm curious what you come up with

 

4 gb used ram - $5-10
$30 amd x2 processor used - $20-30
ati radeon hd gpu used - $7-15
generic used 400w psu - $20
generic cpu cooler - $5
$20-30 am2 motherboard
80gb hard drive - $10
generic mid tower case - $10


Something like this would run you $100-130. I spent 10 minutes putting it together, so I’m sure you could snag a better deal.

There are a lot of case/psu combos. motherboard/psu/cooler combos. That can bring it down.

Can always check thrift stores / salvage yards / pc repair shops as well.

 

Might be able to scrape by playing RS, but if it's CS GO then no way

It meets the requirements to max out rs3 CS 1.6. You wouldn't be scraping by

Obviously I'd spend a little more for the headroom, but the point is you can play these games on pretty potato builds.
