You need to realize how the PA business model works. Their profit margin on each transaction is the 9.9% + $0.99. Because the buyer is now paying the transaction fees (which is actually against the TOS of all major payment methods...), the base margin is exactly 9.9% + $0.99.

The interesting thing about fraud is that, the lower the profit margin for the seller, the more viable the system for fraud. For example, if I have a frauded Paypal account with $200, I want to get the maximum return on this "investment". If someone is selling RS 2007 Gold @ $4.5/M, and I can sell it for $2.5/M, I make about 60 cents per frauded dollar. And some people take this route. But if I fraud PlayerAuctions, I get over 85 cents per frauded dollar. This is a big substantial difference.

PlayerAuctions, therefore, is an extremely valuable target to someone looking to fraud. As opposed to dealing with small sellers, there is no outside risk/bothers (scams, talking to sellers, etc.). You just place the order on the automated system, and if you have a method to fraud the system, it works. No human element whatsoever. You should see how high-value a target a system like PlayerAuctions becomes.

So, if you are going to come here and tell us that they want too much verification... How can you prove that? Does anyone else provide a similar service for a cheaper rate? No. This is a unique website. It's a very interesting business model. But until there's another company competing with them, they can charge 9.9% and demand that information. They are essentially a monopoly, and all things considered, they do not charge monopolistic prices.

I don't think people realize how difficult it can be selling virtual items over systems like Paypal. Customers get frustrated with the effort and privacy issues when delivering these documents, but merchants have little other choices. Buyers do not want to use Bitcoin / WU, or even MB most of the time. They want to fire up Paypal / enter CC info and be done in minutes. Unfortunately, these simple payment methods are the ones which pose the most problems, as they are by and large designed for shipped merchandise only.

I think we can all see the gaping hole in the marketplace for a simple irreversible payment method. Someone is going to figure it out eventually, and they're going to make a lot of money at it.
