Apparently its very easy to scam on Playerauctions

Update: PA acknowledges their error and a refund is being processed

I always thought that it was impossible to get scammed on Playerauctions. Well, I just got scammed out of $500 by them.

Basically I tried to buy gp from a seller with no feedbacks because his was cheaper. After sending the money, he claimed to have made delivery. I disputed this and the case dragged for three weeks (Playerauctions has the fucking worst customer service ever. I have sent like 30 messages and got 2 replies back)

The scum faked a screenshot on a private server with my character and sent that as evidence. I pointed that out to PA that the character does not look like my character in the real game and to illustrate my point, I made a character with the exact same name as the seller's on a private server just to show PA how easy it was to fake a setup like that.

Despite that I have made over $3000 in purchases the past month and that the seller has zero feedback, PA decided to side with that scum and close the case in his favor.

No reply from PA, either from the owner or the arbitration team. Absolute trash service. Avoid Playerauctions at all cost

 

It is really easy actually I think something should be done about this. Can I be a mod now?

 

Maybe you should make a scam report directed at playerauctions on sythe? if what you say is true then simply post a topic with all the proof you have, Because lets be honest, if anyone other sythe member was to ignore private messages about $500 scam reports they would be banned until it was resolved, dont see why playerauctions should be an exception.

 

Make a scam report on user playerauctions. If delivery was not completed, you've basically been scammed.

 

Jake isn't the person selling the gold so I doubt you'll have any action. PA only has an account on Sythe to respond to PM's, feedback and release info.

 

This. Appeal the customer support decision here with a valid scam report.

He's the middleman, and the user allegedly didn't receive payment.

I'm sorry to hear that you had such a negative experience with this particular seller.

We have a feedback system in place for all members to use the ratings to make sound judgements for safer trading. In fact, in our offer listings, the ones with highest feedback are sorted first, with the hope that those who have established their trustworthiness will be the top choice for members who are new to PlayerAuctions.

We also have a Secure Seller Delivery Agreement that puts the onus on the seller to provide evidence of delivery; if this has not worked in this case, we will need to reconsider how the evidence is evaluated, in coordination with our risk management team.

With regards to Customer Service not responding to you, this should really not be the case, especially with live chat and e-mail. Over the past year, we have made leaps and bounds in improving our staff and our tools to ensure low abandon rates and high customer satisfaction. Based on several metrics, our support had greatly improved, so to hear feedback such as this in 2015 is really alarming, since it is the kind of negative impression my teams and I are doing our best to avoid.

Can you send me a private message (or email [email protected]) with the Order ID and the member's username so that I can have this investigated further?

Rest assured we are going to make sure to try and make things right if th error was completely on our end. Otherwise, we will still ensure due diligence to clarify the situation.

@PlayerAuctions CS, your dispute system relies entirely on screenshot evidence to prove an item is delivered in-game. However, screenshots can easily be created on Private Servers, as the OP mentions, which look nearly identical to the screenshots that would be created on regular Runescape.

Considering your agents deal with multiple games, how could you possibly expect your staff to be capable of discerning between legitimate screenshots and ones created on a Private Server?

Relying on screenshots for any kind of proof is a dangerous game. I realize that it's the only realistic form of proof that can be offered in many cases, but they're so damn easy to edit.

 

Chargeback, mark it as not delivered. Use your emails as evidence and claim it as digital goods that were not delivered. Explain the situation coherently and professionally. I had a chinese gold site pull this on me for about $230 and my bank ruled in my favor in about 3 business days.

 

5 days. I have NOT heard back from Lei yet. I have sent them an email.

Perhaps its the holidays. I will wait a bit more and see.

 

Very possible that it's due to the holiday period, but a lot of members have been leaving PA to head to Sythe and other related blackmarkets due to the recent lack of professionalism by PA.

Regardless, I hope you get your money back.

 

They're not responding to emails at all it seems like. I've been waiting 4+ days for each response to a problem they are only willing to solve over email.

 

Just received a thorough and sincere response from Lei. According to her the case was meant to be closed in the buyer's favor but somewhere during the process the identity of the two was mixed up and the seller (the scammer) somehow ended up winning and got the money.

I received my apology and a refund is expected within 3-5 business days. I will update you all again when I receive the refund.

Edit: but yes, @Slimysalaman I too wish that PA has an option for us to contact them besides email. I tried multiple times to phone them but I can't find their number.

but with that said, since this was finally resolved, i guess i will give PA another shot and see how things go.

 

Congratulations on getting the case resolved then. Still slightly unprofessional that a mistake was made that way, it's certainly not something you'd expect from a larger business.

 

Very true. I really didn't expect to lose the dispute....I was absolutely stunned when they sided with the seller....
