    Pin sales bullcrap...

Well I've seen this stupid crap in all these threads and I want more of just like a clarification on this by the staff and users.

All over these pin sellers threads they say, "I am not responsible for a pin not working if I don't apply it myself." This is false am I right? They could scam anytime someone didn't want to get teamviewer or wanted to take extra safety precautions within themselves.

If that is the case with the pinseller being waived of any scamming if the pin buyer decides to set it themself. Can I record the whole conversation of me recieving and setting the pin, and it not working either get a new one or report them for scamming?

If you purchase a pin from another and it is invalid, they can refund the pin and send a message to Jagex. Jagex will reply telling you whether the pin is indeed invalid or if it was applied on an account and the time it was done so. This way, if someone is lying, they can be reported for scamming away a pin and banned.

If you attempt to purchase a pin, it doesn't work, and the seller won't refund you; I suggest you send a message to Jagex regarding the pin and checking whether it is invalid or not. If it is so, create a scammer report on said user to get them banned, as it is their responsibility to give you a working pin when running a pin shop.

Best of luck and happy holidays.

Well if you put your self in the position of the pin seller, you would do the same. Someone could just say the pin doesn't work, and he wants another one, when it actually does work.
But I'm sure you can record the whole thing and report him if he scams.
And is TeamViewer 100% safe? They don't see your password, but still.

edit: grr posted 2 secs after unbanned

unb4nn3d your post really didn't make sense. They could give you a already used pin, or completely invalid one. It doesn't matter which one they give because if you apply it, it won't work, and they will say "oh you didn't let me apply it so fuck off".

That's there for a reason..we could sell you the pin and you could simply say it didn't work and demand a new pin. If things worked this way I could just say none of the pins worked and keep demanding pins until I have the guys whole stock.

The rule is there for your own safety too. Buy from trusted and legit pin sellers and there should be no problems. When someone adds a pin to your account make sure they take a screenshot of the pin working, if they don't have it, you could report them and they will get banned. If you use teamviewer then the same thing applies, he can add the pin and it's insurance for both of you.

    It makes complete sense.
This is why in my previous post I said you would contact Jagex. You supply the pin number and THEY WILL TELL YOU IF IT'S EITHER INVALID OR IT HAS BEEN USED. This way, you can either contact the seller of the pin to you, or report them for scamming you.

What would your proof be? You could have used it yourself on another account?

Not if the pin is invalid. This is why people should be using TeamViewer to apply pins. I always gave the option of others doing so to apply the pin.

Also, if the pin has been applied, then how could they have sold you a faulty pin?

Wasn't talking about the invalid point. ;)

I pointed out that half of your reasoning wouldn't work; "Used Pin" checking.

As said before as well, Jagex will tell you the day that the pin was applied on the account. Therefore, if you didn't give the pin to anyone else except let's say December 25th and Jagex says the Pin was applied on December 25th, then you know they are obviously lying about the Pin being used or sold to someone else.

I agree with Cfrey. This is just a way to force the buyers into downloading remote desktop programs or letting the seller onto their accounts. If the seller doesn't like the buyer or just wants to rip them off then they can and then say the buyer is trying to scam!

    Ok, good. Thanks Darkgroove.

While we're on the subject of seller responsibility, how about the steam account sales? A good portion of steam sellers say they are not responsible if the account is retrieved from the buyer after 24hours.

I know why they say this.. because the majority are phished but there's no way to prove that.

Thanks, I'll take a look now. If there are any other complaints of a similar fashion, post them here and I will take a look after I check on the steam section.

Edit: It's not so much an issue in the steam section. I'll keep an eye on it though.

I disagree. Theres always going to be someone with an upper hand in pin sales, either side of the trade could lie. I don't see why people can't just use teamviewer to eliminate the lying.

There's nothing stopping them from using teamviewer. Good on them for finding this method. However, they are NOT allowed to say that they are not responsible for the pin if they don't go first. They are responsible, and if the buyer can prove guilt they will become liable for a ban or a market ban/twc.

I disagree, this leaves more room for scammers when they buy pins. If I'm a scammer I can say that a pin doesn't work, even though it does and demand my money back or not pay up.

Read my last post. The solution to prevent buyers from scamming is not to enable sellers to scam.
