Personal Support & Assistance Forum

Hi guys. I've decided to add a Personal Support & Assistance Forum as an Off-Topic subforum. Throughout the time I've been here, there have always been a number of threads in General Discussion requesting such help, but there hasn't ever really been a forum for them to be posted in.

After the death of Shawn_, an ex-Global Moderator and friend of mine, I think it is a nice idea to continue his idea, as he, and I'm sure many others on the site, probably have limited people around them in person to discuss their problems with and seek advice. I think one of the main reasons Shawn chose to end his life is because he felt no one understood him and because no one took an interest in his issues. No one should feel that such drastic action is necessary simply because there appears to be no one to listen. This forum allows people to 'vent' and gives other members an opportunity to respond, particularly if they can offer advice or relate themselves to the outlined issue. Whilst obviously this is the Internet, there is a certain degree of discretion where you can candidly share your problems with relative (but by no means guaranteed) anonymity that you may not enjoy in person.

 

It's a good abstract idea. Thing is.. people can flame and judge and then it gets ugly.

 

Fantastic! Let's hope it gets popular . However, I hope that it doesn't fill with dickheads who don't take the person's issue seriously, or with trolls who act like 4chan faggots.

Brilliant section to add to a forum, I really hope it doesn't get misused. I enjoy listening to how people live their lives.

 

You should also state that any troll on that forum will result in a temporary ban.

 

Made a couple of stickies to ensure high-quality posts and complete maturity.

I'm so glad this section was made, I'll consider it in memory of my great, late friend Shawn Prendergast. Wish he was still with us.
