Nearly half (maybe more) of the topics in this section are trolls. Although its a good idea to have this section, there has to be a way to control the spam/trolls in it.

 

We never know if they're really trolls or not. I was infracted for calling a thread a troll. It was very obvious but I was still not allowed to call it a troll. I don't see a way to stop the trolls.

I'd put a section-specific Mod in there if there was someone appropriate. Haven't found anyone suited to it yet, though, so I'm trying to do what I can myself.

Just as Off-Topic Moderators aren't always appropriate for Something for All moderating (hence we sometimes have a Something for All specific Moderator), the Off-Topic Moderators aren't necessarily appropriate for Personal Support moderating. The forum requires some vocational attributes, deep sensitivity and careful custodianship -- either an Off-Topic Moderator needs to dedicate themselves to it more or we'll have to bring in a section specific Moderator.

 

Right but what you're trying to do, for the time being, is weed out troll threads. That is in fact what this threads about. Until you do find an appropriate user to take over permanently, the off-topic mods need to be assisting you doing that.

I understand what you're looking for is someone who can be like Darren/Shawn and not only actively answer the threads but also moderate, but it doesn't take a special kind of user to stop trolls. The off-topic mods should be active in there too.

 

Absolutely. As a long-term measure, though, I'll be keeping my eye open for a Personal Support specific candidate.

 

Enforcing the rules more will help keep the trolling low, having a specific mod for the section will be even better but again if the rules are enforced then people wont troll, although leechers are still going to join to troll but those can be banned and have their threads deleted.

 

You can't always enforce rules as you can't always be certain of what is and isn't a troll.

Paypal problems belong in the H&R and have no relevance to the Personal Assistance section.

 

Would adding him to the list of required moderators the Community Promotion Candidates help at all?
