Blue Screen (of death) Error /Desktop.

I have tried searching other Sythe threads just incase, I don't believe anything relates specifically.

This desktop has not been used for months, considering it's been through a house move, no net connection and a house move back. Something could of happened during house move. For instance something got dislodged?

Issue/Error:
When turning the Pc on, if I click any option -
Safe mode
Safe mode with networking
Safe mode with command prompt

etc It will continously gives me the Bsod error.( please excuse the ugly images.)


So from searching a few online sources, and putting in a Windows 7 recovery disk, and choosing Cd/Rom over Floppy disk, it loads up to System Recovery. At this point I'm at a loss.

I have a few cds with the backup files etc; I think it's for this desktop. So I'm unsure as to whether I should make a system restore point at the moment with these backup disks- if I do this option .. how? (Dumb it down for me, any links pics vids.)

I have not yet opened it to check if anything has become dislodged, although one wire was (unsure what it was it should be back in place now) __ is this error just due to viruses etc? Or possibility of HardDrive being dislodged? or is this something to do with RAM? BOOT corrupted?

On the recovery system, it won't startup repair.
ROOT cause is;
Boot manager is missing or corrupt.


This is what it shows when I run chkdsk /f on cmd.exe as the bsod message suggested.

The type of the file system is NTFS.
Cannot lock current drive.
Windows cannot run disk checking on this volume because it is write protected.


Bare with me, I am learning at the same time, so sorry for long thread, I just want to try all options before anything drastic. ( I don't know how to install a drive).

The problem with blue screens it is one of the widest range of issues. It can be anything from a cable half plugged in, the operating system being corrupt, the harddrive failing etc. The best place to start would be first to open it up and make sure everything is seated properly. Remove and re-insert the ram sticks and ensure all cables are properly connected to the motherboard. Once you have done that then we can move on to the software side.

I would say there is most likely an issue with the Master boot record. Here is a tutorial on how to try and repair that.

Thanks for responding, I will try open it up today. Role on the youtube videos. If it is a continuing issue after opening up. I'll try the software side.

i had a gateway desktop that did this all the time. For me it was windows vista reading the drivers wrong. So i upgraded to Window 7 and it never happened again.

 

Type:
chkdsk C: /f /r /x

Let me know if it does or does not work.

 

Ok today was the only day I was able to attempt rescuse of pc.

Unfortunately during the time I was busy, someone felt it would be best to tamper with the pc and choose Usb over Cd/Rom. The issue with this it won't let me get into Bios setup to then choose CD/Rom. It just keeps turning off.

 

Reset your CMOS. If you have a cellphone or access to another computer, google how to reset the CMOS on your motherboard. My setup has a small button on the back of the computer to do it, but most motherboards require a person to pull out a little plug off from prongs, then place it on another group of prongs, then put it back on the original set of prongs. It is not too complicated if you look it up.

 

Didn't have to reset CMOS? some how a nights rest let me get onto recovery option. Attempting chkdsk c: /f /r /x.

Will update once completed. currently 53%.

If this doesn't work, am I attempting to open, clean and check whats up inside?

Update: I opened up the pc and did a major cleaning...and ensured everything was seated properly (to the best of my abilities). I was told something could be in there that might have been fitted recently that might not need to be in there, so I'll double check that.

Have you tried to create a new partition and then re installing a windows operating system ?

 

My previous command seemed to work, but that wasn't your issue.
Trying verifying your Windows OS using this:

If that doesn't work, then you'll have to make a few decisions.

Do you need the files on the computer?
Are you able to live with starting with a fresh computer, without it's previous software and files?

If the answer to both is yes, then you will want to either format your existing partition or delete your windows partition and use the Windows CD to install a brand new OS.

How comes there's no drive selected.. I'm unsure how to find it.

I guess format it will be, although I do have several disks of backup files etc, so it can just be reinstalled.

 

I wish I saw this thread earlier because I feel like you went through a load of shit for what really only has one reasonable solution.

Your OP states that the bootloader is missing. That's not something easily fixed, especially if you can't properly boot in the first place. A reformat is your only real choice without getting someone tech savvy to put in a new bootloader for you.

You could try installing Linux alongside your current Windows installation, then remove it later. The reason is that that would install grub2, a Linux bootloader meant for booting to different operating systems on the same machine. You could try installing grub2 on its own but that would be silly since that's not what it's meant for. grub2 would only provide a temporary solution anyway, so again, a reformat is your best solution. I'm surprised the Windows repair tool doesn't check for bootloader shit. If you haven't tried that yet, do that first before reformatting.

 

I've had the same issue before, took me a long time to work out what was wrong with it, tried everything on google, still the same. took it to a tech guy and turned out my hard drive was fried. Hopefully this isn't the case for you.

 

Your HDD and Video Card are almost broken. Immediately take your PC and repair it.
