PC build Advice/Setup

Edit: decided to buy parts and build one. Happy that I did!

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3600
GPU: GTX 1660TI
Motherboard: MSI B450
RAM: 16gb DDR4
Monitor: Acer GN246HL

 

For pre-built computers I'd check out newegg. Stay away from anything Alienware. I, for the longest time had an ibuypower which I got off site. Prebuilt computers tend to lack in the PSU department, so plan on upgrading that ASAP.

here's something I came up with that would be more than enough just running fortnite. And you'll probably pull 60+ fps maxed out.

 

Thanks for the reply! After talking to my brother today, I’m going to build as it makes more sense financially and performance wise.

I have a brand new 650w power supply, hard drive, and SSD so I’m good there.

 

Tell us how that goes! I was planning on building a PC for the first time, hopefully I will be able to despite the economical difficulties going around.

Was not cheap.. but should run whatever I throw at it.

 

That's real nice believe it or not I was going for a similar build, I matched all ur specs but it turned out to be loads more out of budget.

 

Yeah.... it was way more than what I was wanting to spend. Oh well 8).
The 144hz monitor is the wildcard that I didn't think about. That alone was a few hundred bucks.

 

Everything finally came in & my brother built it for me today.
I ended up getting the GTX 1660 TI rather than the super. I'm running fortnite on epic settings (maxed) at ~120-140 FPS. ~300FPS on the lowest settings. CPU is running anywhere from 25%-40% with GPU around 35%-40%. I'm very pleased.

Yo so I ended up going with intel processor cause AMD is overpriced in my country.
Base components:
-Intel i5 9400f
-Gigabyte b365m motherboard
-16 gb ddr4 hyperx kit (2x8GB)
-PSU some 650W rated at 88% efficiency
-Case Nzxt h500
-storage I had a ssd laying around, 500gb
-graphics i went with the GTX 1650 which doesn't seem to appeal to many but it's perfect for my needs.
-got a new monitor 75 hz, not like it matters but I love the appeal it has.

None of it is setup yet either, hopefully tomorrow

 

Now that sounds bad boy. I’m still running off my toshiba satellite haha

 

Thanks man! Believe it or not for the past 10 years i ran osrs from a laptop. The biggest upgrade I didnt mention is going from 15 inch to 24 inch screen haha

 

yeah i can imagine lol. cant go wrong with a laptop for comfort but i would love to play on something like what you had!

 

My best advice would be to build it yourself, Follow a youtube guide of the build and you will do fine. Don't buy a prebuilt.

 

Hi, Definitely recommend you build your own PC for many reasons.

1. The satisfaction when your new PC boots up to windows install after nervously plugging each cable and component in.
2. The experience and learning you gain from building it.
3. Easily diagnose system issues as you have a stronger bond with your machines individual components.
4. Very fun to build.

Which websites did you use to buy parts?

 

I'm lazy so I bought a computer from someone that built it themselves. Was cheap and haven't had a single issue with it and have owned for 3 years now

Good choice on the 144 hz monitor, it's worth imo. I have an i7-4790k for my CPU and an old gtx 980 ti sc for my GPU that still runs every game I play more than well enough. 32 gb of ram and an ssd.

Looks like ur build is going to be solid. I'd bump it up to 32 gb of ram but other than that you should be golden.

Even though I agree with not going pre-built (from a retailer) I've always wanted one of those Corsair One's. They're pretty expensive but if I was forced to buy a pre-built that'd be it.

 

Most were bought from Newegg. I did buy a couple of the parts on amazon. After two attempts at purchasing graphics cards and later being told they were out of stock, I wound up buying that from my local best buy store.

So get this - my graphics card isn't made with a DVI port, all it has is display and HDMI. The monitor I bought only has DVI and HDMI, no display. You see the issue here? lol.
Took some research, but I found a well-reviewed dual link DVI to display port adapter. Got it working the other day.. and wow. You're spot on. More-so than any FPS increase, the 144hz monitor makes a huge difference. It's crazy. It's so small it's almost unnoticeable, but it increases the gameplay by a ton.

Anyways, this is what I ended up going with. I love it.
